Title: MOTIVATIONAL GIFT of "Perceiver"
1MOTIVATIONAL GIFT of "Perceiver"
Peter in the Scripture best fits this gift.
2E-2 THE.GREAT.WARRIOR.JOSHUA -- 1955 And after
all, my dear friend, you know what a prophet is,
a New Testament prophet? Is a preacher, is
exactly. A prophet is a preacher. The word
prophet means to foretell or tell forth. Either
preach or foretell. And now, if you can't believe
the dictionary for it, here's what the Bible says
about it. The Bible said, "The testimony of Jesus
Christ is a Spirit of prophecy." Is that right?
So everyone of you are prophets to testify of
Jesus Christ. See? It's the Spirit of prophecy,
the testimony of Jesus Christ is the Spirit of
prophecy.
3Motivational Gift of "Perceiver"
1) Characteristic Need To Express Themselves
They need to express their thoughts and ideas
verbally, especially when matters of right and
wrong are involved.
Peter was that spokesman.
4Motivational Gift of "Perceiver"
1) Misuse Exposes Without Restoring
They expose without a hint of restoring.
Their primary concern is to stop the spread of
evil and expose the sin rather than trying to
restore the person.
Thus he fails in the scriptures of Gal 61
5Motivational Gift of "Perceiver"
2) Characteristic Quick Impressions of People
The prophet makes very quick judgments on
whatever they see or hear.
They want to be the first to express their views
before anyone else speaks.
6Motivational Gift of "Perceiver"
2) Misuse Jumping To Conclusions
They tend to jump to conclusions from only a few
known facts.
Once they have done this, they look for
confirming evidence
This type of action results in them taking words
and actions of the accused out of context to
prove their point at times.
7Motivational Gift of "Perceiver"
3) Characteristic Alterness To Dishonesty
The prophet has the uncanny ability to sense when
someone or something is not what it appears to be.
Any form of deception or dishonesty they react
harshly.
8Motivational Gift of "Perceiver"
3) Misuse Reacts Harshly To Sinners
His denounce of sin is done so strongly that to
others it appears as an overkill.
He tend to expect immediate repentance regardless
of whether his rebuke was done in love or was
even fully accurate.
The motive in magnifying sin is to promote
repentance.
9Motivational Gift of "Perceiver"
4) Characteristic Desire For Justice
The perceiver tends to cut off those who sin so
that there is justice and others will be warned.
He knows that a little leaven leaveneth the whole
lump.
They can end up moody people!
10Motivational Gift of "Perceiver"
4) Misuse Being Unforgiving
It is very difficult for the perceiver to make a
separation between sin and sinner.
He rejects both of them with the same vigour.
Anyone who hears his harshness interprets it as
anger.
11Motivational Gift of "Perceiver"
5) Characteristic Open About Their Own Faults
They are, however, as open about their own
failures as they want others to be about theirs.
12Motivational Gift of "Perceiver"
5) Misuse Condemning Themselves
This harsh judgment which they have for others,
they also have for themselves.
They end up being very self critical and feel
worthless when they themselves fail.
They could end up in depression!
13Motivational Gift of "Perceiver"
6) Characteristic Wholehearted Involvement
Once they are committed to a cause, they are
wholeheartedly involved in it.
This makes them quick to respond to situations
and opportunities, within the context of their
commitment.
14Motivational Gift of "Perceiver"
6) Misuses Being Impetuous
Because of his tendency of being impetuous, a
perceiver can be very impulsive and can waver
between extremes.
15Motivational Gift of "Perceiver"
7) Characteristic Loyalty To Truth vs. People
Their loyalty to the truth even means cutting off
relationships.
16Motivational Gift of "Perceiver"
7) Misuses Cutting Off People Who Fail
Whenever the perceiver sees or hears of something
that is wrong, they feel responsible to speak out
against it.
They seem to fail to ask themselves "Whose
responsibility is this?
Do I have all the facts? Do I need to take action
at this time?"
17Motivational Gift of "Perceiver"
8) Characteristic Willingness To Suffer For Right
They often seem willing to suffer for the truth
or doing what is right, in fact almost eager.
When standing before the Sanhedrin, Peter
rejoiced that he was beaten for obeying God
rather than man.
18Motivational Gift of "Perceiver"
8) Misuses Lacking Tactfulness In Rebukes
They lack that tactfulness and are painfully
direct when correcting others, no matter who they
are.
This trait can cause them embarrassment, as shown
in this scripture.
19Motivational Gift of "Perceiver"
9) Characteristic Persuasive In Defining Truth
The perceivers have a special ability of being
very persuasive and articulate in defining what
is right and what is wrong.
They can grow their gift to help people see
where they have erred.
20Motivational Gift of "Perceiver"
9) Misuses Dwelling On The Negative
They tend to divide everything into two classes -
right and wrong.
Thus they can dwell on the negative Once they
label a person or activity, and that judgment
tends to be fixed in their minds.
They will often feel compelled to persuade others
to agree with them.
21Motivational Gift of "Perceiver"
10) Characteristic Desires to be obedient to God
Perceivers recognise the importance of obedience
at all cost
We know the opposite to obedience is rebellion,
which is "as the sin of witchcraft".
We are all called to bring every thought to the
obedience of Christ
