Their very nature is to have close friendships.
These friendships, however, must have mutual
commitment which is often reaffirmed.

The misuse of this gift is that if they don't
have discernment spiritually they may give
sympathy and encouragement to those who are
suffering as a direct result of violating God's
moral laws.
They have this tendency to tolerate evil if they
aren't careful.

compassion? Sure. Now watch, I'm going to hang
you on a nail just for a minute, with the Gospel.
If He was full of compassion, as you call
compassion, why, that poor daddy standing there
all crippled up with arthritis, saying, "Somebody
have mercy on me, to help me in the pool." That
old mother standing there at the water-head baby,
"Somebody have mercy on me." Old blind mother
with a bunch of kiddies at home, "Somebody help
me to get in next." And He passed right by them,
full of compassion, and never said a word to
them.

Still believe He's full of compassion? You don't
know what compassion is. See? See, like I said
the other night about love. Human compassion is
nothing with God's compassion. We get it all
mixed up. We're so sense bound, till we can't
understand spiritual things. You've got to get
into the line of Spirit to understand spiritual
things. Jesus was more compassionate than any
person that ever was on earth. The whole fountain
of compassion was in Him, and He passed by the
lame, halt, blind, and withered. The Bible said
He did it. Is that Scripture? Saint John 5, read
it for yourself.

Those with this gift find it hard to be firm
because they do not want to hurt or offend other
people. Therefore, the Mercy must see the
greater hurt and offenses will occur if he fails
to be decisive.

Misuse Failing To Be Firm
If a person with the gift of Mercy is given a
position of leadership, he will have a tendency
to avoid disciplinary action which is needful.
Thus a person is not brought to repentance.

This gift carries with it the ability to display
genuine love.
The Mercy carries a greater vulnerability to
deeper and more frequent hurts from those who
fail to demonstrate sincere love.

Misuse Leaning On Emotions vs. Reason
Because of this, the Mercy can make decisions on
emotions rather than reasoning out through the
principles of the scriptures.
This can also cause them to reject Biblical
doctrines which seem too harsh to them.

6) Characteristic Attracts People In Distress
They have this deep understanding of people who
are going through mental or emotional distress.
This sensitivity causes those with hurts to be
drawn to them and to confide in them.

Misuse Defrauding Opposite Sex
A person of the opposite sex tends to be drawn
to the one who has the gift of mercy.
This is because of their ability to be sensitive,
understanding, and a responsive listener.
Misuse can occur if not morally free from
temptation.

The Exhorter will try to help a person find
benefits from his hurts, whereas the Mercy will
try to remove the source of them.

Misuse Reacts To God's Purposes
Unlike the one who is an Exhorter, who looks at
suffering as a means of receiving spiritual
growth, the Mercy tends to react to the idea that
God would allow a good person to suffer.
If they don't maintain a proper perspective, they
can easily become bitter towards God.

Closeness
This person with this gift needs to have physical
closeness in order to be reassured of acceptance.
This always has the advantage of rich time of
fellowship DM'S or Quality Time.

Because of their demands for physical closeness,
they don't take into account that others may need
to spend time alone or with other people.

certainly true with the motivational gifts. The
Mercy is attracted to the Perceiver thus they
balance each other out.
The firm truth balances the gentle love.

Misuse Cuts Off Insensitive People
When a Mercy comes in contact with a person whose
words and actions reflect insensitivity to the
feelings of others, they quickly recognise and
react to this.
Rather than trying to help this insensitive
person, the Mercy will tend to close off his
spirit and cut off fellowship with this person.

SUMMATION
Of all the Gifts, that of Mercy or Compassion is
one of the most frequent gifts bestowed.
In a survey of 1000 people 30 of them had the
gift of Mercy.
Everybody needs somebody to have empathy for them
at times.

SUMMATION
The Mercy is the most vulnerable to hurts because
their hearts are most open to others.
When they are betrayed, there is virtually no
protection, no shell, no tough hide to deflect
the attack.
Mercy's must seek help if they find themselves
heading into depression.
