Introduction Biodesktop is fingerprint based
recognition software. This software has two
parts. First one is biodesk server and other one
is biodesktop. Biodesk server is software in
which administrator can set various settings
which are related to the server. And also he can
configure various fingerprint related settings.
Biodesktop client is the software in which new
users can be registered.

Biodesk server
Make double click on this icon to start Biodesk
server.
In this screen administrator required to set
following settings Max of fingerprints Here max
range can be given from 1 to 2 for finger
registration. Length of user id Here admin can
set user id length from 4 to 9 digit Security
level (11) Here admin can set security level
from 1 to 9. By default it is 5 which is normal
level Security level (1N) Here admin can set
security level from 1 to 9

Biodesk server
Make double click on this icon to start Biodesk
server.
Encryption type of communication Here
administrator can select DES or none option for
the type of encryption. Delete log older than
following days Here admin can set the settings
from 1 1000 days for log deletion.

default selected Terminal log settings Option

User Enrollment wizard
UserID Enter unique user id for the
registration. User name Enter name of the
user Company name Enter company name. Group If
admin wants to divide employees in different
groups then he can add new groups. Privilege By
default first user will get enrolled as master in
the software. Department Select appropriate dept
from the list. If admin wants to enroll new dept
then he will be required to click on add dept
button.

Person to visit Enter here name of the person
Activate on Here admin can select activation
date. Expires Here admin can select expiry date
for temporary type of workers. Authentication
type First user get only password right for
authentication. Password Enter password for
login Confirm password Here again enter same
password After this in order to create first
admin click on save button.

Login wizard
UserID Enter User id for making login in the
system. Password Enter password for login and
then click on Login button.
After login is made, this window get displayed.
In this window admin needs to make click on
settings button to set backup path for the
software

Settings gtgt System options
Backups After settings button is clicked click
on backups option. Use auto database backup If
admin wants to take auto backup after specific
period then enable this setting. Backup cycle
This option decides after how many days backup
should be taken Backup time Select backup time
in minutes. Manual database backup Click on
Manual backup button to take manual backup of the
current database. Save authentication log in
text select this option to generate log in text
file. After this click on apply button to set the
settings.

Biodesktop client
On desktop make double click on BioDesktop icon
to start client software.
In this main window click on settings button to
configure client with the server

Settings
Terminal id Set unique terminal id for the
terminal. Ip address By default it takes pcs ip
address so admin will not required to set it
again. Subnet mask Here by default it takes
network subnet mask. Default gateway Here by
default it takes gateway. Port By default it
accepts port of the pc. Server Ip Here
administrator is required to set server ip.
Server ip is the ip of the pc on which Biodesk
server is installed.

Settings gtgt Options
Communication timeout Admin can select
communication timeout between server client. By
default it takes 5 seconds. But he can set it
between 5 to 30 seconds. Fingerprint settings
Click on this button to set various settings
which are related to fingerprint. Like contrast,
brightness gain. Initial information Max of
fingerprints (12) Here admin can set max of
fingerprint which admin can enroll. Length of
user id (49) Here admin can set user id length
for the employee. Security level Here admin can
set appropriate security level for 11 1N

BioDesk server gtgt Terminal management
After configuration for client will get
completed, then go to Biodesk server gtgt terminal
management, there status of terminal is shown as
unregistered. So in order to register terminal
make right click on the terminal name and select
Enroll terminal option.

Terminal Enrollment
In this window enter following details Terminal
name Enter terminal name which is unique in
nature Description Enter description for the
terminal. Terminal IP Set terminal IP
address. MAC address It will automatically take
MAC address. After this click on save button to
enroll new terminal. After registration is over
terminal state will be shown as normal

In order to enroll new user click on Enroll
user button
In this screen Enter following details to enroll
new user Userid Enter user id which is unique
Username Enter name of the user. Company name
Enter company name.

button to add new groups Privilege select
appropriate privilege like normal or master

for that employee if he is visitor

Authentication type select Fp/ pw/ RF option for
the authentication. Fingerprint If scanner is
attached to the pc then new user can be enrolled
with finger option After this click on save
button to save user

System log System log will get generated for
software shut down and restart

In monitoring window administrator can see the
status of all the client software which are
connected to server

In order to verify finger click on authentication
process option

In authentication window place finger over
scanner and then click on authenticate user
button.
