Birth
  • Some snakes are hatched in eggs and some are not.
  • Some snakes give live birth to their babies.
  • Snakes that are hatched from eggs have a special
    tooth to help them crack open the egg. It is
    called an egg tooth. It falls out after the
    snake comes out of the egg.
  • Snake eggs are soft like leather.

Molting
  • As snakes grow, they loose their skin.
  • They rub their bodies on rocks and other objects.
  • Their skin peels off and new skin grows in its
    place. This is called molting.
  • Rattle snakes get a new rattle every time they
    molt.

Adults
  • Adult snakes will make new babies.
  • When a snake dies. It is eaten by other animals
    in the wild. (like birds)
