THE CONTEXT

• Provide a focus on the value of Work based
  Learning in the academic and personal
  development of the student/s
• To support the achievements of the Schools L T
  Operational Objectives
• Response to the Dearing Report and the
  importance of IWE to both the student and the
  employer
• The Achievement of Common Skills
• To enhance the Hospitality research profile with
  a view to disseminating outcomes and good
  practice
• Vocationality (The significant balance between
  academic studies and the placement)

THE NEED

• Move away from Complex and Confusing Codes of
  Practice
• Promote clear identification of all Key Stages
• Provide a systematic Approach to IWE
• Offer specific advice/course of action at each
  stage
• Introduce exemplars of best practice into the
  Schools IWE programme/s
• Provide opportunities for increased numbers of
  graduates being retained within their chosen
  sector of the industry
