The Anger that Kills

• Jesus is responding to traditional
  interpretations of the LawYou have heard that
  it was said
• Traditional interpretation and application
  Whoever murders will be in danger of the
  judgment
• Local court of 23 men
• Only passage found that is close to this
  Num 3529-31
• If you kill someone you might get caught and you
  might have to stand trial

• Jesus pronounce judgment on anger as well (22)
• But I say to you He spoke as one having
  authority Matt 171-5
• One who is angry without a cause will be in
  danger of judgment
• Same fate that was reserved for common criminals

• Whoever calls his brother Raca! will be in
  danger of the council (22)
• Sanhedrin council a court consisting of 72 men.
• Whoever says, You fool! shall be in danger of
  hell fire (22)
• In danger of eternal punishment
• Jesus teaching were in harmony with the Law in
  regard to anger Prov 616-19

Galatians 519-21

• Now the works of the flesh are evident, which
  are adultery, fornication, uncleanness,
  lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions,
  jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish
  ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders,
  drunkenness, revelries, and the like of which I
  tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in
  time past, that those who practice such things
  will not inherit the kingdom of God.

• Jewish worship included sacrifice
• Christians are to offer spiritual sacrifices
  1 Peter 25
• You also, as living stones, are being built up a
  spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up
  spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through
  Jesus Christ.

  you, So that He will not hear.

• before our anger gets us into trouble!
• We are to live peaceably with our fellow man

• Jesus answered, Most assuredly, I say to you,
  unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he
  cannot enter the kingdom of God.

• Since you have purified your souls in obeying the
  truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the
  brethren, love one another fervently with a pure
  heart, having been born again, not of corruptible
  seed but incorruptible, through the word of God
  which lives and abides forever
