What is the Website Content Manager?
  • The Website Content Manager, (WCM) is a wonderful
new method of creating and updating web pages
without all that tedious mucking about in HTML.
  • Whilst users must be IT literate, no knowledge of
mark-up, style-sheets, FTP or any other
    specialist software is required.

3
Your Pages
  • Some pages are available for you to create within
the limitations of WCM. Pages must match the
    Standard Sussex
  • Web Team may still maintain many of your pages
  • Web Team maintain image libraries

New facility - People
  • People was trialled in 2007 and is now used by
    many areas of the University
  • It provides
  • Key contacts
  • Automatic A-Z list
  • Intro Text
  • Staff by Role
  • Please discuss the use of this facility with the
Main Editor of your site as Intro Text and Staff
    by Role will require maintenance.

Things to remember
  • The system currently works best with Internet
Explorer 5.1 (IE) or above running on a Windows
PC. However, it is usable on other systems, for
example Firefox 1.0 on Mac OS X
  • For the Preview function to work, you should
disable page caching in your browser (to do this
in in IE5. for Windows select Tools gt Internet
options... from the menus. Under the section
Temporary Internet files click Settings... and
check the Every visit to the page option. Click
    OK to finish)
  • Try to avoid using your browsers back button if
    possible

6

  • Once registered with the WCM you should go to the
    web page
