- WHO estimates
- 1.3 million deaths, 50 million injuries per year
- 2.4 million deaths by 2030
- 2 cause of death in 4 29 year olds (2002)
- 85 of casualties in low and middle income
countries - Incalculable pain and suffering
- 65 billion per year financial cost in low and
middle income countries and growing fast
This 65 billion is a prize that we can win by
investing in road safety
..and if we do not, we will continue pay the price

- 2 May - Cyclone Nargis, Myanmar, over 100,000
dead and 2 million homeless - 12 May - Sichuan earthquake, 55,000 dead, 25,000
missing, 5 million displaced
- Every two months the roads take the same toll on
