1 Bridge Programme
Partnership programme from year 12 In year 12,
students will have -the opportunity to shadow
current UofL students -a regular HTML newsletter
from UofL, with update of relevant dates -an
invitation to a taster class programme -an event
for their parents -contact with academics in
their relevant department -contact with our
students / possible student mentor. In year 13,
students will - have a further opportunity to
shadow students and make a formal application
through UCAS - once they have applied, students
will be invited to a summer school
(non-residential) to bridge the skills they
currently have with those needed at University.

20Bulletin Media Day
- Media, Broadcast and Journalism related exercise
which brings students together in small groups to
produce their own Breaking News report. - Learn transferable skills, journalistic tricks
and reporting techniques (sometimes underhand,
for added spice). - Working in small groups, students get the chance
to appear in front of the camera or work behind
the scenes at a level they feel comfortable with. - The University has recruited several celebrities
in order to deliver the Bulletin Day.

22Thunk! Higher Thinking Days
- Can you think of two things at the same time?
- Can I cheat if I dont know the rules?
- Is not being against racism the same as being
for it? - Is it possible that our universe is contained in
a speck of dust on the back of a large goat? - and other such questions to make the brains go
ouch! - Students debate topical issues in small groups,
such as Violence in the Media, Animal Testing,
Capital Punishment, Social Networking, etc. - Some fighting often occurs.

- Summer Schools represent an excellent opportunity
for students to - Have an authentic university experience (minus
some of the more acquired tastes) - Mix with current role model undergraduates
- Take part in a whole host of aspiration and
awareness raising exercises (some of which are
actually quite good) - Year 12s get to integrate into one of the
Universitys Undergraduate Open Days
