Hearing God Speak

• 1. Understand God Speaks to His CHILDREN.
• Hebrews 11-2 In the past God spoke to our
  forefathers through the prophets at many times
  and in various ways, but in these last days he
  has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed
  heir of all things, and through whom he made the
  universe.

God spoke various ways in the O.T.

• Ten Commandments and the Law
• Great and awesome miracles
• Appointed men Angelic beings
• Natural Calamities Conquering Armies
• Burning Bush, Donkey, Visions, Dreams, whisper,
  etc.

• 2. Realize who we are in CHRIST.
• John 112 Yet to all who received him, to those
  who believed in his name, he gave the right to
  become children of God--

In Christ, God calls us a

• Saint over 60 times, "hagios"
• most holy thing, Set apart ones".
• "Hagios is translated holy over 160 times in
  the KJV.

In Christ, God says

• Romans 817 Now if we are children, then we are
  heirs--heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if
  indeed we share in his sufferings in order that
  we may also share in his glory.
• 2 Cor. 121-22 Now it is God who makes both us
  and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set
  his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit
  in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is
  to come.

Understanding who we are in Christ, His child

• God seeks to speak to us!
• BUT WE MUST

• 3. Be in the POSITION to hear God speak.
• Luke 818 Therefore consider carefully how you
  listen. Whoever has will be given more whoever
  does not have, even what he thinks he has will be
  taken from him."

To get into Position to Hear

• Remove competing distractions
• 1 John 215 Do not love the world or anything in
  the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of
  the Father is not in him.

To get into Position to Hear

• Be obedient to Gods Word
• 1 John 23 We know that we have come to know him
  if we obey his commands.

• Examine yourselves
• Psalm 13923 Search me, O God, and know my heart
  test me and know my anxious thoughts.

• Confess known sin
• Psalm 6618 If I had cherished sin in my heart,
  the Lord would not have listened
• 1 John 19 If we confess our sins, he is faithful
  and just and will forgive us our sins and purify
  us from all unrighteousness.

If we fail as a Christian to hear God,

• Were heading for a shipwreck!
• Hebrews 21 We must pay more careful attention,
  therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do
  not drift away.

HOLY SPIRIT

• John 1613-14 But when he, the Spirit of truth,
  comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will
  not speak on his own he will speak only what he
  hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.
  14He will bring glory to me by taking from what
  is mine and making it known to you.

  listening."
