Members of the Red Room work with alternatives to

radio, video and new media to broaden the
public's definition of and experience with
quality Australian poetry.
5How is Abbotsleigh involved?
- PAPERCUTS is the name for The Red Room Company's
poetry education program, which is being piloted
in four NSW high schools during 2007.

8- Year 9 at Abbotsleigh have been looking at
poetry through the ages and at various forms and
features of poetry.
9Students were fortunate enough to work with
Australian poet, Joanne Burns on two occasions
during the unit. Joanne has composed a poem
inspired one of the talismanic objects presented
her by Year 9 students during her first visit to
Abbotsleigh. September 18th Joanne will
present this poem to students when she returns to
Abbotsleigh.
