3Monthly ReportJuly 4 31, 2006
- The Salmon Enhancement Program began on July 4
with a few changes in our crew members. Lisa
Prisk and Shannon Sparks will not be working at
the trap-site this year (2006). - We were able to hire four new employees Jason
Aubie, Kirk Ellis, Virginia Paul, and Jonathan
Peter-Paul. - Also, Malerie Peter-Paul will only be with us for
the summer as she will be going to school in
September. - Crew members were scheduled to work Monday to
Friday from 900 AM to 400 PM until the traps
were in.
4Monthly ReportJuly 4 31, 2006
- The majority of the crew had hauled steel to the
trap-site while the others cleaned up the site. - New doors were installed to both traps along with
other repairs. - The fence and both traps were put in place and
fishing began on July 20, 2006. - 24 hour scheduling also began.
5Monthly ReportJuly 4 31, 2006
- From July 20th to the 31st, only one wild female
salmon was caught and released. - Water levels are slightly higher due to more
frequent rainfall weve had this year. - Water temperatures have been slightly lower than
previous years.

8Monthly ReportAugust 1 31, 2006
- The fish count for the month was 67 (41 grilse
and 26 salmon). - Counts are up compared to August last year which
was 28 grilse/salmon. - This increase may be due to cooler water
temperatures. - There was 1 mortality for this month.
- It appeared to be caused by a predator and not
from poaching. - There appears to be more anglers this year
compared to last.
9Monthly ReportAugust 1 31, 2006
- We have not transported any salmon to Charlo due
to their lack of funding for the hatchery. - Unfortunately, there may not be any fish sent to
the hatchery again this year. - The crew members have been getting to work on
time and have been doing a good job. - There has been no problems and everything has
been running smoothly.

11Monthly ReportSeptember 1 to October 6, 2006
- Water temperatures varied from 11 to 22 degrees
Celsius during the month with is comparable to
last September. - The water level was low this month and may have
had an effect on our daily catch.
12Monthly ReportSeptember 1 to October 6, 2006
- The total count for the month was 60 (28 grilse
and 32 salmon). - Last year, there were 152 grilse/salmon processed
during the month of September. - In September 2004, we processed a total of 343
grilse/salmon. - It is possible that the lower counts may
partially be due to the lower than normal water
level. - The total count for the year was 128 (69 grilse
and 59 salmon).
13Monthly ReportSeptember 1 to October 6, 2006
- Due to late funding, the Charlo hatchery was only
up and running in the later part of September. - On the 20th, I received a call from Bob Baker
advising me that the hatchery was now able to
accept salmon. - Our goal was to supply the hatchery with 20
salmon (10 males and 10 females). - Arrangements were made to have access to the
Bands truck for the week. - I then made a trip to Charlo to pick up the
holding tank, oxygen tank, and the necessary
supplies to transport the fish to Charlo. - Broodstock was then collected and we were able to
supply the Charlo hatchery with 13 grilse/salmon
(6 males and 7 females).
14Monthly ReportSeptember 1 to October 6, 2006
- Our last day of fishing was Friday, September 29
and the crew members were given the weekend off. - On Monday, October 2, we began dismantling the
fence. - The fence and the traps utilities were
disconnected. - The program ended on October 6, 2006.
- The crew members worked well together as a team.
- There are no complaints as everything went well
this year.
