Mount Baker Middle School 620 37th St SE

3
Mt. Baker Middle School opened to 7th and 8th
grade students September, 2004.
4
The library has 13 student computers that have
the library search software (OPAC), STAR reading,
Accelerated Reader, Microsoft Office, Inspiration
and are internet capable. There are two staff
computers used for check out and other library
functions.
5
We also have a scanner available for student and
staff use.
6
Overhead projectors
  • Each classroom has an overhead projector
  • The library has four extra to loan when service
or repair is needed on an overhead

7
There are 11 televisions with video cassette
recorders (VCR) or video cassette recorders and
digital video disc (DVD) combination units on
carts.
8
The library contains three video cameras for
staff to check out.
9
We have one digital still camera that we use in
the library.
10
Mt. Baker has four film strip projectors for use
by staff.(Yes, they still get used.)
11
Mt. Baker just added two document cameras with
dedicated liquid crystal display (LCD) projectors
on carts.
12
Three other LCD projectors are available for
staff to use in their rooms.
13
Each grade level has a laser disc player for use
in science classes.
14
There are twelve cassette sound recorders and one
boom box that will plays compact discs (CDs).
15
Two 35mm slide projectors are available for staff
use. With the use of the LCD projectors and a
computer these dont get used very often.
16
The opaque projector is still hanging in there,
but with the document cameras it probably wont
be used much any time soon. (What a monster of a
machine!)
17
We have a 16mm film projector that has never been
used, but we have it just in case.
18
Do you remember vinyl records? We have a record
player!
19
Students have the use of AlphaSmarts or a teacher
can check out enough for a class to use for a
project. We have 30 that are bar-coded for
checkout. Special education classes are set up
with cables to download the files for their
students.
20
We have 20 audio books for staff use and 12
cassette tapes in the parent library from Love
and Logic.
21
Our 15 CDRoms are never used anymore. The
databases have replaced the CDs.
22
Our vertical helical scan (VHS) tapes are the
backbone of our collection supporting the
curriculum. We currently have 608 VHS tapes for
staff to use to support classroom instruction.
23
We are turning to digital video disc (DVDs) when
available for longevity of the product. Currently
there are 28 DVDs available.
24
A portion of the VHS and DVDs available at Mt.
Baker Middle School Library.
