Delivery Principles
  • Primary vehicle for delivering the policy
    ambition in World-class Apprenticeships and major
    contributor to raising the participation age
  • New, distinct and dedicated service with focus on
    Apprenticeships
  • NAS to bring added value and capacity not
    duplicate or displace that which already works
    well
  • 16-18 commissioning in response to local
    authority information on demand and YPLA
    strategic analysis
  • Employers to have an increasing influence over
    whole system and able to accredit their own
    training
  • Clear routeways into Apprenticeships, especially
    Diplomas and Young Apprenticeships and skilled
    work pathway
  • Increasing opportunities for progression,
    especially Foundation Degrees and Higher Level

Employer Services
  • NAS field force will
  • Promote Apprenticeships and the Vacancy Matching
    Service to employers
  • Develop growth strategies by region and by sector
  • Ensure service works for employers from initial
    enquiry to completing apprenticeship
  • Directly assist large/medium employers and those
    new to Apprenticeships
  • Offer single point of expertise on
    Apprenticeships to employers and brokers
  • Ensure responses to marketing campaigns followed
    up
  • Target employers in response to unmet demand from
    individuals

Learner Services
  • NAS field force will
  • Promote Apprenticeships and the Vacancy Matching
    Service to young people, Connexions, schools and
    parents
  • Work with Connexions, Directors of Childrens
    Services and 14-19 partnerships to ensure
    provision
  • Monitor progress of potential Apprentices to
    ensure support is there
  • Support all advisers so that expertise in
    Apprenticeships is available and embedded
  • Manage the follow-up to marketing campaigns
  • Promote Apprenticeship opportunities in response
    to new Frameworks and local Apprenticeships
    demand

Vacancy Matching Service
  • Available from December across the country
  • Will enable employers and potential Apprentices
    to come together in an efficient, effective and
    user-friendly way
  • A free vacancy filling service for employers
  • Monitor progress of each Apprenticeship and
    potential Apprentices
  • On-line information and advice directly to young
    people, advisers and parents
  • Work with Connexions advisers
  • Provides ongoing intelligence about unmet demand
    for Apprenticeships and for Apprentices
  • Links between the NAVMS and other key web-sites
    including 14-19 prospectus
