  • Only 4 Study Centres are equipped with EDUSAT
    equipment.
  • Regional Centre located far away from EDUSAT
    building
  • Use of technology in SSS has not made much
headway due to non-availability of trained

ACHIEVEMENTS OF REGIONAL CENTRE
  • Largest enrolment in the North East. Trends
indicate that over 2000 students take
admission during the Academic session of July
    Session.
  • Around 80 programmes of IGNOU are activated
  • It is a centre for a programmes like Medical,
B.Ed. etc for the entire North East.
  • IGNOU facilities are available in all
districts, except four. Efforts will be made to
have Study Centres in those Districts by 2007.
  • The number of Resource Persons are large
because the State of Assam which is under the
jurisdiction of the Guwahati Regional Centre has
    two State Universities, two Central
    Universities, one IIT, one Agricultural
    University, three Medical Colleges, three
Engineering Colleges, hundreds of Arts, Commerce
and Science Colleges and area Specific Research
Institutions like the Rain Forest Research
Institute and the Regional Research Laboratory in
Jorhat, etc. The potential of these institutions
may be used for various IGNOU programmes.

  • Drawbacks experienced due to lack of training
of RC staff, coordinators and other
    functionaries of Study Centres.

of technological inputs at Study Centres
  • IRC to be delegated to AIR stations in the
    state where available.
  • Non continuation of CPE Programme a
    disappointment for the Regional Centre
  • Academic staff requirement at Regional Centre
to step up quality of Student Support Services
  • Administrative staff requirement at Regional
Centre to updated records and maintenance of
    official procedures.
  • Separate cell in the Regional Centre to
    systematize storage of prospectus, study
    material
  • Shifting of Regional Centre premises and also
EDUSAT facilities to be attached to Regional
