MARKETING YOU AND YOUR FIRST JOB PRESENTATIONS
AT SCHOOLS It is OUR responsibility to reach
out to schools, letting them know of the
resources that we offer.
2
  • The PIHRA Foundation is a way for HR
Professionals to give back to our communities.
  • We assist individuals, mostly high school and
    tech school students, regarding
  • how to get a job
  • how to interview
  • what kinds of questions will be asked
  • dos and donts
  • etc.

3
Not every school knows that we exist and what we
offer, so we have to reach out. Reaching out to
high schools and tech schools in your area can be
a challenge. Each county and district is
structured differently, so must be handled
differently. You can learn what works for the
schools in your area.
4
APPROACHES The most effective approach is the
most personal. Network through a PIHRA member
to someone within the school or the district. If
you cannot network, then write or
email. Remember, you are offering something
valuable. Theres no need to be shy. This is a
gift.

PERSONAL/PROFESSIONAL BENEFITS You may be
contacted by PIHRA Foundation when someone has
contacted PIHRA for our assistance in your
district area. Spread the word in your district.
Report at every meeting about your successes.
Who knows what will come back to you.
9
TIPS Expect to network. Do not stop at the
first person ask who else you should talk
to. Ask whom you should contact at the
schools. Ask whom you should contact at the
district to get to more schools.
10
TIPS Do not assume individuals within schools or
districts talk to each other. Take the
responsibility for getting the word to every
person who should know. Feel free to send copies
of You and Your First Job booklet to school
officials, so they can see the material that will
be covered.
11
TIPS We are most popular in the spring when kids
are getting close to graduation and their job
hunting is fresh in everyones mind.
12
TIPS Whoever does the presentation will find it
to be very, very rewarding. By making the
arrangements, you will be helping the school,
the students and the PIHRA member who does the
presentation.
