Powerful Tool

•  
• Overuse dull as any other tool of teaching.
  
• Limit - 20 words (unless it is a professional
  presentation.)
• Pictures are good if not superfluous.
•

Steps to Create

• Open MS PowerPoint
• Select Blank
• Then pick the square on the top left.
• In the Title Box type My First PP
• In the smaller box type your name.

Things to Note

• Note that the size of the type is different in
  each box provided.
• Note that whatever you type is also on the left
  of your desktop. This only occurs if you use the
  textboxes that they provide.
• Virtually anything you can do in MS Word you can
  do in PP.

Inserting New Slides

• To insert a new slide, go to insert, new slide or
  choose the white icon on your toolbar that is
  toward the right end.

Changing Colors

• Dark background light letters theory.
• Go to Format, Slide color scheme.
• Choose Custom
• Then choose background and select a color.
• Choose text and select a color
• Choose titles and select a color.

Adding Pictures

• Same as MS Word
• Go to Insert and then picture. You can choose
  from any file or from clipart

Adding Sound and Videos.

• Go to insert Movies and Sounds
• There is a gallery for you or you can import your
  own music and or videos.

Many other Possibilities

• You can set a URL in a PP and when clicked it
  takes you to that site if you are connected.
  www.google.com
• You can flip from one slide to another out of
  sequence if you would like.

Sorting Slides

• You can resort the slides in slide sorter view,
  under view or the 4th icon on the lower left of
  your desktop

Making Things Fly In

• Highlight the items you want to change.
• Go to slideshow
• Custom animation
• And then Select what you want it to do.
• Custom animation allows you to flip things around
  and time things etc.

Slide Transitions

• Go to Slide Show
• And select whichever one you would like.
• The final one is random entrance.

To View Show

• Go to Slide Show and view show
• Go to the icons on the lower left and click on
  the last visible one.

Printing

• Make sure you select black and white before
  printing.
• Many forms to choose from outline, notes,
  slides, etc.

Your Assignment

• Working with your Partner create a PowerPoint on
  the chapter that you were assigned from the Mayer
  book.
• Must consist of 5 slides
• Must present main points of chapter
• Follow Mayers ideas about Multimedia design.
