The Molasses Act
  • The Molasses act took place in 1733. The Molasses
    act put taxes on, Sugar, and molasses. This made
    the Colonist REALLY mad because they had to pay
    more money.

French and Indian War
  • The French and the Indians fought against the
    British and the American over the land. It
    started in 1754 and ended in 1763. The British
    And the colonist won the war. French Lost ALL
    there territory except for New Orleans. After the
    war many colonist moved across the mountains not
    afraid that the French would attack!

The Proclamation of 1763
  • King George made a law that they cant move west
    over the Appalachian Mountains. King George Told
    them that the could not spend or use their money.
  • The Colonist were VERY angry at King George.

The Stamp Act
  • People had to get a stamp on 54 kinds of papers.
    You had to get a stamp on playing cards, a
    collage diploma, news papers, licenses, and
    wills. You had to pay a I cent for a newspaper
    ten dollars for a college diploma and you had to
    pay in gold or silver.

The Townshend Act
  • The Townshend act was made in 1767. You had to
    pay a tax on tea, paint, glass and paper. Many
    colonist refused to pay the taxes.

The Sons Of Liberty and Their Motto
  • A club was made named The Sons Of Liberty. Their
    Motto was Join or Die. The Members broke into the
    Tax Collectors and beat them. Then they burned
    all the stamp taxes.

The Boston Massacre
  • The Boston massacre all started when the
    colonists were throwing snowballs at some British
    soldiers. When the British soldiers got mad they
    started to fire their guns. The first person that
    died was a former slave named Crispick Attucks.

The Boston Tea party
  • The Boston Tea Party was when about 50 guys
    dressed up as Mohawk Indians. They were getting
    sick of paying for tea that nobody was drinking.
    So those 50 men went on to a boat and threw 342
    cases chest of tea over bored.

The First Continental Congress
  • The Continental Congress was when all of the
    colonies, except for Georgia, got together and
    discussed the Boston tea party. It is also when
    the British passed another law called the
    Intolerable Acts. The Intolerable acts were when
    the British closed the harbor, the British
    soldiers had to live with the colonists, they
    couldnt have meetings, and if they did a crime
    they had to b shipped to England.

The Minute Men and Paul Revere
  • The minute men were named the minute men because
    they were ready to fight in a minute.
  • Paul is important because when the British were
    coming he rode around Boston and Lexington
    yelling The British are coming! The British are
    coming!
  • The British were coming because John Hancock and
    Samuel Adams had a hiding spot in Lexington. So
    they were coming to arrest them.
  • They decided to arrest John Hancock, Samuel
    Adams, and Paul Revere when they got arrested
    they all got out safely.

The Battle of Lexington and Concord.
  • The first of the Battle of Lexington and Concord
    took place was called The shot heard round
    world.
  • Because the impact of the war that it fallowed.
  • The British Commander in Boston sent some
    soldiers to get gun powder and guns.

Bunker Hill
  • The hill was named Breeds Hill after its owner.
  • They thought it was Bunker Hill because Bunker
    Hill was really close.
  • When the British Commander sent his army up the
    hill but the were forced back by the Americans.
  • The Colonist lost 140 soldiers but the British
    soldiers lost about 1,000!

The Second Continental Congress!
  • The Continental Congress all met in Philadelphia.
  • Congress voted that the other 13 colonies should
    send some stuff for the war.
  • They wanted George Washington to be the
    Commander-in-chief of the new army.
  • George Washington also fought in the French and
    Indian War.

A Famous Person
  • A famous person is Molly Pitcher. Her real name
    was Molly Ludwig. She would sew, cook and give
    water to the men that were in the war. Her
    nickname was Molly Pitcher because she would
    bring water out to the men with a pitcher.

The Early Battles
  • The early battles took place around New York.
    When the British went to sleep the Americans
    built a fake fort and put cannons in it. When the
    British woke up they saw the fake forts with the
    cannons and thought it was a real fort so the
    went to Boston with out a fight.

The Battle of Saratoga
  • In winter of 1776 George Washington and all of
    his men camped in Pennsylvania. On Christmas Eve
    all of them crossed the Delaware River to attack
    a group of Hessians. On October 1777 the
    Americans beat the British. The French Helped the
    Americans by supplying money and other stuff. The
    Americans could have NEVER won the war without
    the French.

Valley Forge and the End of the War
  • The British were camped in Philadelphia when the
    Americans were 30 miles away in Valley Forge. The
    Americans were hungry and cold. Americans got
    money from France. The British Army was lead by a
    man named Cornwallis. In 1783 the British and the
    Americans signed the Peace Treaty.
