Title: STORM TRACKER

1
STORM TRACKER
  • MAPPING MODULE
  • PRODUCT TOUR

2
About Our Mapping Module
  • Our module uses Microsoft MapPoint
(see VirtualEarth.com) on laptops and PDAs.
  • View HQ, TDSR Sites or tickets on map.
  • Move objects on Maps by dragging.
  • Double click to open detail in Storm Tracker.
  • Assigns streets and areas to specific trucks.
  • ESRI version available to link to existing GIS
    system.

3
Accessing Mapping Module
  • The Mapping Module works in conjunction with
Storm Tracker and is accessible by clicking the
Maps button on the Jobs window (circled below).

4
Main Mapping Surface
  • After clicking the Maps button, a main mapping
surface opens. There is a list of storm clean up
options on the left side of the window that you
can view using maps. Using the various icons,
you can turn on / off various features, zoom in /
out and navigate around the entire United States.

5
Viewing Stumps
  • Select the Stumps Tagged and Stumps Picked Up
options to view all of the validated but not yet
picked up stumps, which are marked with a red S
and the picked up stumps, which are marked with a
green S. All of these stumps have been entered
into Storm Tracker with unique tag numbers.
Double click the stump to view the details on the
    stump ticket.

6
Generating Lots of Validated Stumps
  • Wonder what 30,000 validated stumps might look
like? The following diagram shows youStorm
Tracker generated all of these pushpins in under
    5 seconds!

7
Making Changes to Stump Ticket
  • After viewing the details for a stump, you can
easily make changes to the ticket at any time in
    Storm Tracker.

8
Assigning Specific Area to Trucks
  • Now that you know which stumps need to be picked
up, you can view or assign a specific section of
roads to a specific truck. The following example
shows a stretch of road in green that has been
assigned to Truck 393, effective 5/14/07, until
    further notice.

9
Viewing TDSR Sites
  • Select the TDSR Sites option and then select a
portion of the map to zoom into. You can keep
zooming in much as needed. This is a valuable
feature, since it allows you to pinpoint the
exact location of a stump or leaner.

10
Moving a TDSR Site
  • The first diagram shows an entered address, which
shows a specific location on the map (this also
could have been done in Storm Tracker when the
site was entered). The second diagram shows that
the TDSR Site has been moved to a new location.
You can view addresses, latitude or longitude to
make sure that the site has been placed at the
    correct location. Storm Tracker will
automatically compute the distance from TDSR
Sites to Landfills, which is very useful in
    assigning mulch hauling rates.

11
Requesting a Virtual Earth View
  • The following diagram shows the Virtual Earth
view of our map, which we requested to ensure
that the right building was specified. This
    process requires Internet access.
