  • Lower elevation
  • More toxins in wood and bark
  • Less likely to decay-rot resistant
  • Alaska Yellow Cedar (Chmaecyparis nootkatensis)
  • Higher elevation
  • Less toxins
  • Softer
  • Pungent aroma
  • Sometimes considered a higher quality bark
