  • District software extracts data from master files
into EDIT (file format identified in PEIMS Data
    Standards).
  • Extracted PEIMS data is uploaded (FTP) to the TEA
EDIT file server using a secured file transfer.
  • PEIMS data is validated generating error-listing
reports on any errors and warnings detected.
  • Verification reports generated by EDIT are used
    when correcting the data.
  • Districts correct data within their respective
software systems and the information is uploaded
    again to EDIT.

completeness of each district's data within their
    region.
  • Errors found by the ESC during the review process
are corrected by school districts in a timely
    manner.
  • Following review, ESCs flag data as accepted.

9
End of Process
  • PEIMS data is transferred from the TEA EDIT
    server to the TEA mainframe.
  • Turnaround quality reports are created and
    available to districts via EDIT.
  • The Superintendent Sign-off statement is signed
by the District and forwarded to the ESC.
  • ESC personnel send the Superintendent Sign-off
    statements to TEA.

District use of Dynamic PID (Person
Identification Database)
  • PID includes (PID ID) SSN (or State ID), Fname,
    Lname, DOB (etc)
  • PID provides the capability of integrating
    databases
  • EDIT provides authorized users with the ability
to search PID for student and staff demographic
    information
  • The results of PID searches are used to ensure
    PEIMS file accuracy
  • Users can do PID verifies all year
  • EDIT users validate the student and staff data
contained in their source PEIMS file against the
    PID
  • PID Error Rate Standards to ensure accuracy
  • PEIMS Submissions must meet a PID error rate
standard of 10 or fewer student records with PID
errors or a PID error rate on student records of
    4.0 percent or lower.

Unresolved Issues
  • Current Process Issues
  • Different vendors/variety of products
  • Extract process
  • 80-byte, ASCII format specified in the PEIMS Data
    Standards
