Title: FROGS

1
FROGS
  • By Sydney room35 Grade 2

2
  • Frogs stay where it is damp. Frogs have webbed
feet. When it is winter the frog goes to the end
of the water and makes a hole. The eggs are in
jelly. The jelly around the egg swells, and the
frogs spawn rises to the surface of the
water. There the eggs grow until they are ready to
    hatch into tiny tadpoles.

3
  • The tadpoles have tails, and gills behind their
head for breathing in air. As the tadpole turns
into a froglet, the tail gets shorter and
shorter. Then it becomes a frog. The smallest
frog is one centimeter long. Glass frogs are hard
    to see on green leaves.

4
  • The common frog lives in damp places. Many
tadpoles are eaten by giant water beetles, water
scorpions and other creatures. Young frogs take
three years to become fully grown then they can
    start breeding themselves.

5
  • Frogs eat among other things earthworms. Frogs
are eaten by grass snakes, rats, otters, herons,
    large fish and hedgehogs.
