So what is Memetrics?
  • Performance-based marketing
  • Memetrics is a company that sells software to
    test new features on webpages and funnel traffic
    to them selectively (called experiments on the
    site)
  • It keeps track of where the customers navigate in
    your experimental portion of the website to
    gauge how effective your new features might be
  • Multiple experiments can be run at the same time,
    and you can control how much of your total
    traffic is routed to your experiments
  • Memetrics boasts famous clients like eBay,
    Shopzilla, and Telestra
  • They also offer more traditional consulting
    services
  • Pros
  • Memetrics really takes this seriously and has
    long-term contracts with large companies, which
    suggests that theyre effective
  • Cons
  • No price is listed on the website the site
    seems to be geared toward long-term commitment
    with large companies (its very expensive)
  • Overall
  • Probably not the best for startups or small
    businesses, but if youre already a big
    corporation, go for it!

  • This might be useful when used in conjunction
    with other advertising services. Probably best

Uh, so what does this one do?
  • WordofBlog is a free service that allows bloggers
    and other websites to upload ads (called
    badges) to their website
  • Once you do this, WordofBlog supplies you with
    some HTML code that allows you and your friends
    (or associated websites) to embed the badges into
    their webpages
  • You can then log in to WordofBlog to check on how
    many clicks your badge is getting and from where
  • They claim they may have some ideas for becoming
    profitable, but dont list any on their website
  • Pros
  • Hey, its free! How can that not be a good
    thing?
  • You might get lucky and get mentioned on a
    popular blog
  • Cons
  • Pretty much word-of-mouth only since theres no
    mechanism to pay people for putting ads on their
    sites, their only incentive to do so is if they
    really like you or your services, which limits
    the effectiveness of this service
  • Overall
  • Since its free, theres really no reason not to
    try it if youre trying to advertise something,
    but remember you get what you pay for
