Speak Out for Military Kids Retreat
  • This is an educational program that was and is
designed to raise the awareness of issues facing
military families. This week, the 4-Hers have
began to understand what the military kids are
going through. The youth become members of
speaking bureaus and develop lectures, public
service announcements, videos, and other material
to help share what they know to their community.
Through this training, the youth have had the
    opportunity to gain valuable leadership,
    research, organization, technology, and public
    speaking skills.

Goals
  • There are two main goals for Speak Out for
    Military Kids.
  • We want to increase the awareness of issues
facing Army National Guard and Army Reserve
families during times of mobilization and
    deployment.
  • The other is to increase awareness of stressors
    faced by suddenly military youth.

6
Puzzle
  • A true Military Kid
  • When we were in a district meeting there was a
request that we wrote on a piece of paper
something that we felt was important to be
incorporated and this is just one of many!!!
  • Drew wrote that when you have someone from your
family or a close friend leave, it is like a
piece of your heart and soul is missing.

7
Speak Out
  • This past week all of us teens have had the
chance to learn new skills that many of us never
    knew before.
  • We were also able to experience making new
    friends!!!!

8
Leadership
  • Along with everything that we have learned so far
about eachother, we have also learned great
    leadership skills.
  • When it is appropriate to take charge
  • What qualities a person should have in order to
    take charge.

9
Fun Games
  • Besides learning all of the qualities that we
needed to develop we were also able to have a
little fun getting together as a whole.
