Title: AN ARTIFICIAL BIRD IN THE SKY

1
AN ARTIFICIAL BIRD IN THE SKY
2
Principle of airplane
  • By four forces
  • Lift
  • Gravity
  • Drag
  • Thrust

3
Parts of an aeroplane
4
Why most airplanes are white in color?
  • White reflects back heat
  • White reduces the temperature inside the flight
  • White color is cheap
  • It is also based on customer demand

5
Difference between jet and airplane
  • Airplane is a fixed wing aircraft propelled with
    reciprocating engines
  • They are slower than jet
  • An average plane fly at an altitude of
    30000-39000 ft
  • Depending on size, passengers and cargo are
    loaded in an aeroplane
  • Jet is an airplane with gas turbine engines
  • Jet flies much faster than any airplanes and at
    higher altitudes of 33000-49000ft
  • It is highly efficient
  • They can move faster than sound
  • Depending on size, passengers and cargo are
    loaded in jet

6
What is a black box?
  • Flight Data recorder is also known as black box,
which is used to record the voices in a flight
  • It is mounted in the tail section of an aircraft
  • It is made of hard steel or titanium covering
    insulated to protect against crashes
  • It can withstand high temperatures for hours

7
Jet aircraft emission
  • The exhaust from jet engine is due to water
vapour condensation and it is known as contrails.
  • It condenses as droplets and further as tiny ice
crystals, which appear to us like white smoke
  • The contrails occurs at 500 degree Celsius

8
Principle of hydro planes
  • It can take off and land on water with little or
    no wave action.
  • It faces trouble in extreme weather
  • It is also known seaplane
  • Buoyant force is its principle
  • Here, fuselage act as ship hull which helps to
    land on water
  • It is mostly used by coast guards

9
Unmanned Aircraft system
  • It flies without human crew members on board
  • It is used for military purposes
  • Flight duration varies widely
  • It has no capacity for in- flight refueling
  • Picture shown is of GLOBAL HAWK which can fly up
    to 36 hours

10
Why airplanes are streamlined in shape?
  • Aeroplanes are streamlined in shape because it
reduces the air drag/ air resistance.
  • It increases thrust (moving forward)
  • It decreases drag (holding back)
  • It helps to move faster
  • It is the reason why the cars are also
    streamlined in shape

11
Some general information about airplanes
  • The designing and planning process including
safety tests can last for four years for small
flights and 12 years for big flights like A380
  • Quieter airplanes are expected to available from
2030 via SILENT AIRCRAFT INITIATIVE project
  • Weight and size of the airplane depends upon the
    customer requirement
  • The popular companies which produce airplanes
    are Boeing, Cessna, Airbus etc
  • In India, Hindustan Aeronautics are popular in
    the manufacturing of aeroplanes
  • Accomodation of passengers and cargo depends on
    the size of an airplane
  • Aviation turbine fuel (ATF) is used in aeroplane
