1Burton Fire DistrictMotorola XTS 5000
- An overview of the Motorola XTS5000 Portable Radio
2-Channel Selector Only works when remote mic is
disconnected from the radio
-Radio ON/OFF adjusts volume when remote mic is
not attached.
-Emergency Button Activates Emergency Tone that
will alert all radios on a specific talk group
(once we go digital)
3-Backlight Illuminates the back light on the
front display
-Inactive button Does nothing
-Key Pad Lock Locks the key pad on the front
display to prevent any accidental/unwanted keying
4-Zone/Talk Group Any Zone ending with a D.
i.e. AD, BD, CD, DD, etc are for the new DIGITAL
Zones when we convert to the Digital System.
5-Concentric Switch The top Concentric Switch
has been changed from SCAN/NOT SCAN to
ENCRYPTED/NOT ENCRYPTED. The switch needs to
stay in the o position. If you try and use
the radio in the f position, the radio will
emit a tone and not transmit or receive.
6-ABC Toggle Switch This switch now controls the
SCAN/ NOT SCAN function of the radio. In the C
position, the radio is in SCAN Mode. The Z
icon will also be displayed on the front display.
7-ABC Toggle Switch This switch now controls the
SCAN/ NOT SCAN function of the radio. In the C
position, the radio is in SCAN Mode. The Z
icon will also be displayed on the front display.
8-ABC Toggle Switch This switch now controls the
SCAN/ NOT SCAN function of the radio. In the A
position, the radio is in NOT SCAN Mode. The Z
icon will not be displayed on the front display.
9-ABC Toggle Switch This switch now controls the
SCAN/ NOT SCAN function of the radio. In the A
position, the radio is in NOT SCAN Mode. The Z
icon will not be displayed on the front display.
10Emergency HELP Feature
- The Emergency Help feature is changing how it
works. When you depress the ORANGE button, the
help activation will alert and display on every
radio that is on the talk group you are on. - i.e. If you are on Burton Ops 2 and activate the
Emergency help feature, every radio on Burton ops
2 will hear the alert and see it on their
display.
11Emergency HELP Feature
The Emergency Help feature can be activated from
either the remote mic or on top of the radio
housing by pressing the ORANGE button. You will
hear 5 short beeps once the button is depressed.
12Emergency HELP Feature
Once the Emergency Help button is depressed, the
display will momentarily flash ACK RECEIVED.
The display will then continuously flash back and
forth between EMERGENCY and the talk group the
radio is on.
13Emergency HELP Feature
- To reset the Emergency Help feature, depress
the ORANGE button until you hear a long tone and
visually see it has reset on the radio display. - This should reset all radios on the talk group.
14Voice Announcement
- Some of the channels have been assigned voice
announcement. When selecting through the
channels, only the channel the selector know
stops on will announce. - We will have more channels with the voice
announcement when we switch to the digital system.
15Scan List
- Only the following three channels are to be
scanned in Burton Fire District portable radios - Fire Disp 1
- Burton Admin
- EMS
- DO NOT add or delete any other channels into the
scan list as it may alter the Scan Priority.
16Digital TalkgroupsThese will be the new
talkgroups once we switch over to the digital
system.
17Digital TalkgroupsThese will be the new
