What Information to Use?
  • Headlines summarize the story look at the lead
  • Headlines are specific
  • Name of who won
  • Outcome of event
  • Secondary headlines can use any of the story info
  • Quotes
  • Interesting Facts
  • Whatever is in the headline must be in the story

Headlines vs. Titles
  • Titles are one or two word descriptions and
    usually do not contain a subject and verb
  • Homecoming
  • Race
  • Headlines look almost like sentences but only
    contain striking, strong content words and
    phrases
  • Jones out for season
  • Hornets win fifth state title
