Objectives of IGD/WAP Committee

• IGD

• Is not sufficient for certification and for using

Progress on UPnP v2

• Steering committee decided to adopt WSDL in Oct
  2001
• Microsoft and IBM agreed to grant a RANDZ (no
  royalty) license for the use of WSDL in the
  context of UPnP devices
• Official W3C committee working on the WSDL schema
  language
• Established a UPnP Forum Architecture Committee
  for defining the UPnP v2 architecture

UPnP Architecture Process

• Amendment to UPnP Forum member agreement
• Introduced an Architecture Committee consisting
  of up to seven steering committee members
• Ratification of UPnP architecture spec. requires
  unanimous approval by AC and 75 majority of the
  steering committee
• Architecture is licensed for implementations on
  multiple platforms
