- The policy on late work will be determined by
each faculty member. - No use of cell phones or other electronic devices
in the classroom. - Attendance Policy of the Department
- There are no excused absences.
- Students are considered tardy if they arrive
after the roll has - been called, or leave before the end of the
class period. - Classes that meet twice a week
- After 4 absences One letter grade reduction
- After 5 absences Two letter grades reduction
- After 6 absences F
- 3 tardies 1 absence

- Student is highly creative, self-motivated and
can successfully apply the principles of design.
Work expands/redefines accepted or traditional
thinking on project criteria and solution. - Performs tasks with acceptable speed and quality.
Very active in class critiques and discussions,
interacts with instructor throughout the quarter,
comes to class prepared at all times, always
completes work on time. Displays commitment to
their work.

Grading 80 - 89 B Good Work Student
demonstrates creative potential and has a good
understanding of the design principles. Perform
tasks with above average speed and quality.
Active in class critiques and discussions,
interacts with instructor, comes to class
prepared most of the time, and completes work on
time. Displays a sense of commitment to their
work.

Grading 70 79 C Average Student work is
on task, shows some potential for creative
problem solving and design principle
knowledge. Performs tasks with satisfactory
speed and quality. Occasionally active in class
critiques and discussions, comes to class
prepared more often than not, completes work more
often than not, on time.

Grading 60 - 69 D Below average Passing,
but not transferable. Has difficulty
participating in class critiques and discussions.
Has difficulty interacting with instructor,
comes to class unprepared, has difficulty
completing work on time.

Grading 0 - 59 F Failing Abilities and
tasks were performed at an unacceptable level.
Poor interaction with instructor, inadequate or
poor preparation in class and fails to complete
work on time.

Mounting All projects will be mounted on 11 x
14 letramax board (black on black or slate grey)
and can be purchased in the bookstore. Use of
spray glue on campus is grounds for a student
conduct investigation. Interior Design majors
are required to mount all work on 16 x
20 letramax board. End-of-Quarter
Assessment Each faculty is required to have an
in-class assessment during the last week of each
quarter. Students should update all work prior to
the end of the quarter.

Student Work The Design Department reserves the
right to use all work created as part of any
course for promotional materials or for
accreditation purposes.

17Grading Exam Policy
- No excused absences (except for death in family,
including yourself)? - Late assignments will not be graded
- NO make-up exams
- Seriously, if you cant make it on test day, talk
to me so we can schedule a make up

- Portfolio Project is 50 of final grade
- Mid-Term exam is 15 of final grade
- Final exam is 35 of final grade
