Early Retirement Incentive

  • Very targeted enough to avoid layoffs but not
    more (167 eligible) 45 minimum
  • At least 25 years of service to AAPS and 30 years
    MIPSERS credit
  • 30,000 if less than 55 members 40,000 if more
    members retire
  • MEA Financial will help
  • Also changed Terminal Leave Pay to save members
    money.

  • Increases student contact from 256 to 295 minutes
    per day increases work load
  • Removed lunch supervision
  • Protected Advisory language

  • Part timers treated equally to full timers
  • Prevented raining pink slips
  • Improved language to protect those involuntarily
    transferred
  • Continued voluntary transfer language
  • Does not guarantee no layoffs

Recommendation
  • The Bargaining Team recommends you approve this
    package
  • It is the best way to protect our members from
    layoffs and from involuntary transfers
  • It will help demonstrate to the community a
    healthy and positive labor relations environment
    in our school district
