Childhood
  • He developed his personality in the blue color
    neighborhood of Baltimore where he was born in
    1895.
  • Ruths father Big George owned a saloon working
    long hours to make a living and Little George
    fell in with a tough crowd.
  • I was a bum when I was a kid Ruth said.

Early Career
  • Ruth was invited to spring training by the
    Orioles the International League in February
    1914.
  • Although he wowed with both of his arms and his
    bat in North Carolina he soon broke for the
    Boston Red Sox.
  • By now it is common knowledge that Ruth, The
    Sultan of Swat, who shattered the homerun records
    of his day was a major league pitcher.
  • Before he was a position player few realized
    however just how good Ruth was as a pitcher.

All His Season
  • He had a career ERA of 2.28.
  • In 1916 he won 23 games as a starter and posted
    a 1.75 ERA for Boston.
  • By the 1920s as a member of the New York Yankees.
  • Ruth was settled in the outfield most importantly
    ,in the every day lineup he would become the
    first player in Big League history to hit 30
    homeruns in a season.
  • To his arrival in New York the long ball record 4
    a sea son was 12 in 1920 his 1st as a Yankee Ruth
    rapped 54 the 714th and the final homer of his
    career came May ,25 1935.
  • As a member of the Boston Braves and was the 1st
    hit completely out of Forbes field .

  • The curse of the bambino witch supposedly had
    haunted them for decades also was lingering .
  • Legend had it that Boston believed they where
    still mewling from a move they made on January
    3,1920.
  • When cash strapped owner Harry Frazee, sold Babe
    Ruth to the Yankees 100,000 and a 300,000 loan.

Ending
  • Once in the 1932 World Series Babe Ruth pointed
    to the center field bleachers he was calling his
    shot then on the next pitch he hit a towering 400
    foot homerun.
  • And thats how he became the best baseball player
    whoever lived.
