Title: Recycling-Greece

1
The three Rs of the environment
  • Reduce Reducing the amount of waste we produce
is one of the best ways to help the environment
  • Reuse Instead of throwing things away we could
find a new way of using them again.

Recycle Recycled items are put through a process
that makes it possible to create new products out
of the materials of the old ones.
2
  • These 3 methods are the best and most efficient
    ways to help the environment.
  • In our school we reduce, reuse and recycle in
    various ways.
  • Heres what weve done!

3
Composting
  • Compost is organic matter that has been
decomposed and recycled as fertilizer and soil
amendment. In our school we use organic and home
waste, egg shells that are provided by local
bakers, coffee leftovers as well as fruits and
vegetables that are no longer for sale. We also
collaborate with super markets such as Lidl to
make sure their not for sale fruits and
vegetables are provided to us and not thrown
    away.
  • By composting we made and sold fertilizer and
    also reduced the waste produced.

4
  • We gathered olives from the olive trees in our
yard. The oil produced was given to the local
    nursing home.

5
  • We constructed a bench out of old pallets.

6
  • We recycle old and used caps.

7
  • We also recycle used batteries and lamps. We
,then, send them to the suitable companies to
make new products out of them.

8
  • Reuse We organized a Christmas bazaar where old
clothes, books , CDs and jewelry were sold.
  • The earnings were used to help children in need.

9
  • We created bird feeders and paintings out of old
    caps.
  • We made masks out of old newspapers.
  • We created bags out of old magazines.

10
  • We decorated candles with used products such as
cans, caps, buttons and old fake jewelry.

11
  • We made soap out of old frying oil.
  • We collected used frying oil and converted it to
biofuel with the help of the University of
    Kozani, a nearby town.
  • We made cereal bars, limoncello and kiwi liqueur.

  • We fully used lemon!
  • We made homemade lemonade.
  • We used the lemon skin for limoncello
  • The remaining were used for composting.

14
  • We used old car tires as flower pots. The flowers
were provided by the municipality of Veria. The
fertilizer used was made out of our own compost.
The students planted all the flowers on their
    own.
  • We constructed a bike out of old broken bike
    parts.

15
  • As students we decorate and clean the classrooms
    on our own.

16
  • But we also decorate the school and the yard!

17
  • These are some student drawings delivering
    messages about recycling

18
  • And some more!

Lets make our lives green!
  • We try every day to help not just to make our
school green and friendly to the environment but
also to make our lives and our hearts greener and
full of love for the world we live in.
