• And seeing the multitudes, He went up on a

•  Blessed are those who mourn, For they shall be
  comforted. 5 Blessed are the meek, For they shall
  inherit the earth. 6 Blessed are those who hunger
  and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be
  filled. Matt 54-6 (NKJV)

•  Blessed are the merciful, For they shall obtain
  mercy. 8 Blessed are the pure in heart, For they
  shall see God. 9 Blessed are the peacemakers, For
  they shall be called sons of God. 10 Blessed are
  those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake,
  For theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Matt 57-10

•  "Blessed are you when they revile and persecute
  you, and say all kinds of evil against you
  falsely for My sake. 12 Rejoice and be
  exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in
  heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who
  were before you. Matt 511-12 (NKJV)

• Last week we learned that the wise person builds
  his life on the principles of Gods Word.
• He does this by doing two things
• First, by hearing the Word and then second, by
  doing it.

• A. Poor in spirit- dont be self-sufficient,
• Depend on God, trust in Him
• B. They that mourn- dont be self-satisfied, cry
  out for deliverance

• C. Meek- not self-important, dont get even,
  controlled strength.
• D. Hunger for righteousness- not seeking self
  righteousness, hide in own goodness.

• 1. Merciful
• The man who is not merciful has a defective brand
  of salvation.

•  Set a wicked man over him, And let an accuser
  stand at his right hand. 7 When he is judged, let
  him be found guilty, And let his prayer become
  sin. 8 Let his days be few, And let another take
  his office. 9 Let his children be fatherless, And
  his wife a widow. Psalms 1096-9 (NKJV)

• Let his children continually be vagabonds, and
  beg Let them seek their bread also from their
  desolate places. 11 Let the creditor seize all
  that he has, And let strangers plunder his labor.
  12 Let there be none to extend mercy to him, Nor
  let there be any to favor his fatherless

• Let his posterity be cut off, And in the
  generation following let their name be blotted
  out. 14 Let the iniquity of his fathers be
  remembered before the Lord, And let not the sin
  of his mother be blotted out. 15 Let them be
  continually before the Lord, That He may cut off
  the memory of them from the earth 16 Because he
  did not remember to show mercy, But persecuted
  the poor and needy man, That he might even slay

• Mercy is meeting peoples needs. It is something
  we do
• How do we show mercy?
• Therefore be imitators of God as dear children.
  2 And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us
  and given Himself for us, an offering and a
  sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma. Eph
  51-2 (NKJV)

• 2. Pure in heart
• Not speaking of being sinless
• If we say that we have no sin, we deceive
  ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 1 John 18
  (NKJV)

• Search me, O God, and know my heart Try me, and
  know my anxieties 24 And see if there is any

• Through Your precepts I get understanding
  Therefore I hate every false way. Psalms 119104

• We can fool one another but never God.
• But the Lord said to Samuel, "Do not look at his
  appearance or at the height of his stature,
  because I have refused him. For the Lord does not
  see as man sees for man looks at the outward
  appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart." 1

• God looks at our hearts.
• Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, But
  the Lord weighs the hearts. Prov 212 (NKJV)

• When David prayed for his son Solomen he prayed,
• And give my son Solomon a loyal heart to keep
  Your commandments and Your testimonies and Your
  statutes, to do all these things, and to build
  the temple for which I have made provision." 1
  Chron 2919 (NKJV)

• David prayed for Solomen to have a perfect heart.
• On the other hand, it was said of King Rehoboam
  when he began to reign,
• And he did evil, because he did not prepare his
  heart to seek the Lord. 2 Chron 1214 (NKJV)

• The heart determines our standing before God.
• The heart refers to the, mind the will and the
  emotions.

• The heart determines behavior.
• Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it
  spring the issues of life. Prov 423 (NKJV)
•  For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts,
  murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false
  witness, blasphemies. Matt 1519 (NKJV)

• Our hearts need to be devoted to God.
• "No one can serve two masters for either he will
  hate the one and love the other, or else he will
  be loyal to the one and despise the other. You
  cannot serve God and mammon. Matt 624 (NKJV)

• Do you not know that friendship with the world is
  enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a
  friend of the world makes himself an enemy of
  God. James 44
• Vs8 purify your hearts you double minded

• 3. Persecuted
• The closer you get to God the more persecution
  you will likely encounter.

• Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the
  fiery trial which is to try you, as though some
  strange thing happened to you 13 but rejoice to
  the extent that you partake of Christ's
  sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you
  may also be glad with exceeding joy. 14 If you
  are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed
  are you, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests
  upon you. On their part He is blasphemed, but on
  your part He is glorified. 15 But let none of you
  suffer as a murderer, a thief, an evildoer, or as
  a busybody in other people's matters. 16 Yet if
  anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be
  ashamed, but let him glorify God in this matter.

  Christ, not only to believe in Him, but also to

• Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ
  Jesus will suffer persecution. 13 But evil men
  and impostors will grow worse and worse,
  deceiving and being deceived. 14 But you must
  continue in the things which you have learned and
  been assured of, knowing from whom you have

• The results We will see God!
• How do we get there?
• Behold what manner of love the Father has
  bestowed on us, that we should be called children
  of God! Therefore the world does not know us,
  because it did not know Him. 2 Beloved, now we
  are children of God and it has not yet been
  revealed what we shall be, but we know that when
  He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we
  shall see Him as He is. 3 And everyone who has
  this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is

• 4. Peacemakers.
• Peace is not the absence of something, rather it
  is the presence of something

• 10 Mercy and truth have met together
  Righteousness and peace have kissed. Psalms 8510

• and having shod your feet with the preparation of
  the gospel of peace Eph 615 (NKJV)

• And how shall they preach unless they are sent?
  As it is written "How beautiful are the feet of
  those who preach the gospel of peace, Who bring
  glad tidings of good things!" Romans 1015 (NKJV)

• Before we can be a peacemaker we must know the
  Prince of Peace
• Before we can share bread with a beggar we must
  know were the bread is
• True peace is only found in a relationship with
  Jesus.
