INES Ph.D. Program Description

in one of 5 areas geotechnical, environmental
and water recourses, geo-environmental,
structures and materials, or transportation
engineering - completion of 30 post baccalaureate semester
hours using one of the 3 M.S. options - 1)thesis

- completion of five interdisciplinary core courses
including
seminars and case studies - completion of electives in desired focus area

generation of technology aimed at solving

Outlook
- equivalent to U.S. baccalaureate or masters
degree in proper area of study - undergraduate GPA gt 3.2 or graduate GPA gt 3.5
- acceptable score on verbal, quantitative, and
analytical sections of GRE (upper 50th
percentile) - at least 220 computer-based or 550 paper-based on
TOEFL (international students) - Three letters of reference
- essay that addresses applicants area of interest
in research
- undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or better
- satisfactory score on Aptitude portion of GRE
- three letters of reference
- Score of 550 or higher of TOEFL
- students with strong academic performance may be
admitted to the early entry program
The Department offers a Bachelor of Science in
Civil Engineering (B.S.C.E.) degree and
administers a program leading to a Master of
Science in Civil Engineering (M.S.C.E.) degree
and a Master of Science in Engineering (M.S.E.)
degree. Doctoral studies are available through
the Infrastructure and Environmental Systems
(INES) leading to the Doctor of Philosophy.
