  • An addendum has been issued to the current
    Technical Instructions with an effective date of
    March 18, 2005 (copy attached).
  • Adoption of a 3rd Proper Shipping Name for
    products assigned to UN 3373.
  • Addition of a new paragraph to definition of
    Infectious Substances.
  • Effective January 1, 2007 the Proper Shipping
    Name Biological substances, category B will be
    the only permitted name for UN3373.
  • The Indicative list of Category A examples has
    been amended.
  • Many examples will now be Category A infectious,
    only if in culture form.
  • IATA
  • IATA posted a 2nd Addendum on the 22nd March 2005
    to reflect the ICAO amendments in the current
    edition DGR (copy attached).

  • OAOA has been invited to participate in the
    DOTARS Consultative Working Group (CWG) which is
    to be held in Canberra on the 3rd May 2005.
  • Domestic Cargo Security Measures Documents
    (DCSMD) must now be in place with an effective
    date of March 10, 2005.
  • Security measures documents should have been
    distributed to appropriate personnel and the
    various levels of training conducted.
  • Neutron Scanner Brisbane Trials
  • Customs will be trialing a neutron scanner in
    Brisbane commencing mid 2005.
  • Neutron scanner is designed to scan complete
    ULDs for explosives, drugs and other risks.
  • Trials will commence with a 6-month testing
    period followed by comprehensive field trials for
    an additional 12 months.
  • Initial trials to focus on import cargo.

  • Web page structure is complete incorporating the
    new logo of the OAOA
  • The OAOA now has access to make cosmetic changes
    as required. Minor changes such as ABN still
    require inclusion
  • Members were asked to advise David or Howard if
    they had objections to to their logo/links being
    included on the site.
  • Special thank you to Mr Scott Gazzard CEO MCQ
    International for the time and effort put into
    the construction of the OAOA website.
