Why Submit?
  • To organize, document, and communicate what your
    team does
  • Recognition of what your team has already done
  • Allow students another avenue to demonstrate
    their skills and creativity
  • To satisfy your competitive urges another way
  • Must submit if your team received a NASA grant
  • Should plan to submit if you are vying for the
    Rookie All-Star Award

Organizing Your Team
  • Know the judging criteria
  • Select your Chairmans Award team
  • Individuals should know what your team is all
    about
  • Individuals should be committed to whole task
  • Determine where to submit
  • What do you consider your home regional?
  • Other strategic reasons

  • What are the mission, vision, goals of your
    team?
  • How does your team demonstrate the CA criteria?
  • How can you best tell your story to meet
    criteria?

  • Present to Regional Judges
  • If you qualify, present to Championship Judges

Executive Summary / Essay
  • First, list all team qualities, activities, and
    strengths
  • Exec Summary
  • Answer questions asked
  • Focus on time frame (past three years)
  • Focus on concrete results
  • Chairmans Essay
  • Use creativity
  • How can you best tell your team story to meet
    criteria
  • Balance results, creativity, and emotion

  • Complement info from Exec Summary and Essay
  • Reinforce topics you want judges to hear
  • Develop a script
  • PRACTICE! PRACTICE! PRACTICE!
  • Tell your story in the allotted time
  • Be prepared for questions

  • Your team should walk the talk
  • Every team member is an ambassador of your team
  • Get feedback on presentation from non-FIRST
    affiliated reviewers
