4
Keep in mind
  • This may seem complicated at first
  • Change our thinking from a calendar month to a
    rolling month timeframe
  • We will be paid for everyday we work
  • Checks will simply reflect a different
    time-frame

5
Current Pay Cycle
  • Pay cycle time-frame reflects a calendar month
  • Behind the scenes..
  • Payroll run is approximately 10 days prior to the
    end of the month
  • Hours are projected for the remaining 10 days
  • Adjustments are made the following month for
    overtime, leave without pay, etc.

6
How Will The Pay Cycle Shift?
  • Historical pay cycle 1st 31st of the month
  • New Payroll cut off date will be the 21st
  • New pay cycle will be 22nd of each month to 21st
    of next month
  • Pay day will remain the last working day of the
    month

EXAMPLE (actual number of working days will vary
monthly)
7
Whats the Advantage to Employees?
  • Employees will be paid for actual hours worked in
    the current pay cycle
  • Reduce paperwork associated with payroll
    adjustments and corrections.
  • Consistent with pay process for other state
    employees and the private sector

9
July 2006 Pay Cycle

  • August payroll is July 22-August 21
  • 15 working days
  • Six working-days shorter than normal
  • Annual salary policy adjustment

10
How will my July 2006 pay check be
impacted?
  • To minimize the financial impact of the shorter
July 2006 pay cycle, the Board of Regents (BOR)
will advance funds to employees to cover the six
    day difference.
  • Advance will be repaid by employees ½ day per
    month over 12 months.
  • 9 month employees will have similar adjustment

11
August 2006 and beyond
  • Payroll cycle for each month will be 22nd 21st
