Federal Health Architecture
  • Background
  • Part of USDA's mission involves protecting the
    health of the public by ensuring the country's
    agricultural resources and commodities are safe,
    making USDA a strategic partner in the Federal
    Health Architecture (FHA) initiative.
  • FHAs primary mission is to develop an enterprise
    architecture for the health environment.
  • Two areas of the architecture are being developed
    in the near future that will require USDA
    involvement
  • Business Architecture Reference Model Revision -
    The FHA group has obtained authority from the
    Federal Chief Architect to revamp the Business
    Reference Model for the Health Line of Business.
  • Development of Public Health Surveillance
    Vertical Slice - Includes business, data,
    application, and technology layers.
  • - Development of the architecture will require
    the involvement of subject matter experts from at
    least five USDA agencies APHIS, FSIS, FNS, ARS,
    and CSREES.
