• What proof is there in our lives that show we are
  Christians?

• 1 Finally, my brothers, rejoice in the Lord! It
  is no trouble for me to write the same things to
  you again, and it is a safeguard for you.
• Paul was struggling but he could still rejoice.
• When our hope is centered on Christ we can
  rejoice under any circumstances.
• Throughout this book rejoice
• Rejoicing is a safeguard against all the things
  that can cripple us.
• It helps us focus on what Christ has do for us
  and our relationship to him.

• 2 Watch out for those dogs, those men who do
  evil, those mutilators of the flesh.
• Beware of, take heed.
• Dogs were viewed differently.
• Judaizing Christian / unless circumcised and
  obedient to the Law dogs
• Wild dogs
• Proof of salvation not in relationship but in
  good works and physical.
• Our hope cannot be in doing only but rather in
  knowing who Jesus is.

• 4 though I myself have reasons for such
  confidence. If anyone else thinks he has reasons
  to put confidence in the flesh, I have more

• People of Israel- Right people
• Tribe of Benjamin- strongest tribe
• Hebrew of Hebrews- both parents, language,
  customs, practices
• Law- Pharisee most educated
• Zeal persecuted the church.
• Legalistic righteousness- faultless

• 7 But whatever was to my profit I now consider
  loss for the sake of Christ.
• Everything that seemed important, wasnt.
• Dont get attached to stuff! Leave it.
• No life in stuff
• Salvation only lies in a relationship with Christ.

  compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing

  all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may
  gain Christ
• This was Pauls way of life.

  is through faith in Christ-- the righteousness
  that comes from God and is by faith.
