Title: Clouds

1
Clouds
  • By Mrs. Prietos
  • 2nd Grade Classroom

2
Our Classroom
  • We wanted to learn about clouds, so we set up our
classroom ceiling like a sky of clouds.
  • We all got to make our own puffy cloud first.

3
So what is a cloud?
  • There are lots of drops of water floating
together in the air. We cant see each drop, but
we see them together as a cloud.

4
How do clouds form?
  • First there is a body of water. This could be a
    lake, ocean, or river.

5
The Sun
  • Then the sun comes out and warms up the water
from the lake or ocean, and turns it into a gas
    called Vapor.

6
Water Vapor
  • Water vapor rises into the air. It then forms
    tiny drops of water.

7
Clouds
  • As we learned, these tiny drops join together to
    make clouds.

8
Rain
  • The drops get so big that they can no longer stay
in the air. Then they fall down to earth as Rain.
  • Rain comes down to earth again, and the cycle
    starts all over.

9
Now What?
  • We wanted to know why all clouds werent white
and puffy, so we learned about types of clouds.

10
Cumulus Clouds
  • Cumulus clouds are white puffy clouds.
  • These clouds mean fair weather.

11
Cirrus Clouds
  • These clouds are made of tiny bits of ice.
  • These usually mean that rain or snow is on the
    way.

12
Stratus Clouds
  • These clouds look like thick layers of clouds.
  • They mean that wet weather is on its way.

13
Clouds and rain
  • We all read books about the water cycle, rain, and
what could happen when there is too much rain.

14
The Sea Where I Swim By Gwen Pascoe
  • We read The Sea Where I Swim.
  • We liked this book because it was about the water
    cycle.
  • Our favorite part of the story was watching how
the water went from the sea into the sky, and
    back down to the sea.

15
Rain by Andrew Kelly
  • We wanted to know where rain came from?
  • This book explained how water vapor becomes
clouds and then falls down as rain.
  • We learned that water vapor turns into clouds, and
then when the cloud gets full, the drops of water
    come down as rain.

16
The Flood by Kevin Boom
  • Our book was about a Flood. When there is too
much rain, that can cause a flood to happen.
  • Our favorite part of the story was learning about
how the people helped each other in the flood.
Now we know what can happen, and what to do if
    there is a flood.

17
Storm by Jane Carrol
  • Our book showed pictures of what a storm was
like. We liked learning about the stormy weather.

18
Cloud Watchingto learn about the weather.
19
Charting our weather to see what kinds of clouds
brought certain weather.
20

Final Thoughts
  • We learned a lot about clouds, but the best part
was Cloud Watching. You ought to try it someday.
