Getting Around PAF 5.0
  • There are three ways of navigating through your
    database.

  • Shows an individual and his parents, spouse and
    children.

  • Use this view when you want to see five

  • Lists all individuals in your database by RIN
    Number...

Primary Position
  • This is the position of the individual on the
    Family View screen on the top left.
  • Use the triangular arrow buttons next to each
    individual to move the person to the primary
    position.
  • It is necessary to move an individual to the
    Primary Position to add parents, spouse and
    children. Lets try a few.

Spouse In Primary Position
  • To move a spouse to the Primary Position press
    the up/down arrow button above the spouse.

Get Back to the Home Person
  • To get back to the Home Person click on the Go To
    Home Person icon. (It looks like a mans face
    with a red up arrow.)

Editing Records
  • Double-click on the individual or marriage you
    wish to edit.
  • Type the information.
  • Click Save.

  • There are other information fields available on
    the Individual Record.

Title (prefixes)
  • Type suffixes, such as Junior, Senior, or III,
    after the surname.
  • Type titles, such as Captain, Deacon or Doctor in
    the Title field.

Married Name
  • Type the married name of the female.
  • This becomes useful when you dont remember her
    maiden name, such as entering information from
    death records.
  • You can later search for her by her first name
    and married name.

Also Known As
  • Type any other name the person used as a stage
    name, pen name, criminal alias, and so forth.

Nickname
  • Type the person's familiar name.

Cause of Death
  • Type the cause of death.

Physical Description
  • Type the physical description of the person. We
    recommend that you give the description of the
    person at about 25 years of age. We all get
    older, get grey hair and get a little wider.
    Lets present us at our best.

Custom ID
  • If you have your own numbering system for the
    people in your family, type it here. You can use
    both letters and numbers.
  • Tip Bbirth certificate, Mmarriage
    certificate, Ddeath certificate

To Add Other Events Attributes
  • There are other events you may want to enter,
    such as immigration info, military service,
    moves, census info or probate info.
  • To add this, go to the Edit Individual screen for
    the individual and click the Options button, then
    click New Event/Attribute.
  • A menu of choices will appear.

  • If the event is on the list, click the event, and
    click Select.
  • If the event is not on the list, click New to add
    it to the list.
  • Type the date and place of the event and any
    other useful information and click Save.

One great feature is that after you add the Other
Information and Save it, it will automatically
sort it chronologically so you can see a
snapshot of a persons life on the Edit
Individual screen or documents you print!!!

Confidential Information
  • If you want to keep a note confidential, type
    as the first character of the paragraph.
  • If you want to print a note on reports, type ! as
    the first character.
  • Tip If you are recording information about
  • a person who is still living,
  • please keep it
    confidential.

Numbers, birthdates and mothers maiden names of
living people can be used for identify theft.

Rearranging Order
  • By default, children are listed in the order in
    which they are typed. You can change the order
    if needed.

  • From the Edit menu, select Order Children.
  • From the Child Order screen, select the child you
    want to place in a different order.
  • Click the up or down buttons to move the child to
    the correct order in the list.
  • Click Save.

Adding Contact Information
  • The contact information is the name, address,
    telephone number, and e-mail address of living
    people who can
  • be contacted for more information about your
    relatives or ancestors.
  • be added to a list of family reunion contacts.
