4Funds from BAA Stansted Airport Stansted Airport
Community Trust Fund Support for voluntary and
community organisations, located within ten miles
of the airport perimeter. Past support includes
grants to village halls and play areas, for work
to benefit young and elderly, disability and
sports groups. Applications are considered at
quarterly meetings. The total grant allocation is
100,000 per year, with most grants being up to
2,000. BAA Communities Trust Grants for
schools, young people and local community and
environment, particularly in areas that are
affected by the impact of airport operations.
Support include grants for minibuses to help
village communities, for skills development in
young people, and for youth club equipment.
Applications are considered quarterly. The total
grant allocation is 60,000 with grants being in
the range of 3,000 - 15,000. Stansted Airport
Charity Committee Broader funding criteria than
above Trusts. Grants for individuals and
organisations located within 20 miles of the
airport perimeter. Past grants have included
funding for pre-school tricycles, a play area,
support for disability groups, older people, and
nurseries. Applications are considered monthly.
The total grant allocation is 10,000 per quarter.

5Co-op Community Dividend Fund The Community
Dividend Fund uses the "odd pence" donated from
Co-operative Group
Dividend cardholders to fund projects that
benefit local communities.
Community and voluntary groups, self help
groups and charities are able to apply
for funding of between 100 and
5,000 to support projects that benefit the local
community
To be eligible, the project must benefit a local
community in which at least one Co-operative
group business trades To check where your nearest
Co-operative Group outlet is, or whether your
local store is part of the Co-operative Group
phone 0800 0686 727.The type of activities
supported must fulfil a perceived need in the
local community by addressing community issues
such as combating crime and anti-social
behaviour, promoting education and improving
health or for equipment for self help people eg,
laptop, digital cameras. Activities must also
target disadvantaged groups or areas and be in
line with co-operative values and principals.
How much can I apply for?The scheme can
provide funding of between 100 and 5,000. The
average amount awarded in 2005was 713, and most
awards were between 100 and 500.Applications
for over 500 must enclose the latest copy of
your groups accounts. You will also need an
independent referee.Applications can be
submitted at any time - Allow 4 months to get a
reply - Your local Co-operative Group area
committee will assess your application. There are

10Community Champions Fund
The Community Champions Fund has been supporting
individuals throughout
the region to benefit their local
community by offering
grants and encouragement. The Community
Champions Fund is a source of funding from the
Department of Education and Skills, which is
administered in the East of England by COVER. The
aim of the fund is to help individuals who want
to change their communities for the better, and
can provide awards of up to 2,000 to enable a
project to get off the ground including Fast

11Tesco Charitable Trust
- The Tesco Charity Trust support both national and
local community charity appeals. - In 2005, the Tesco Charity Trust made cash grants
of 1,584,298. The Charity Trust Community Award
Scheme awarded local grants totalling 400,000.
These provide practical benefits in the local
community for three vulnerable groups children,
