What is the Patricroft Bridge Masterplan?

• The purpose of the masterplan is to create a
  vision for Patricroft.
• Built around the needs and aspirations of the key
  stakeholders
• It will influence internal city council
  approaches to development in the area, and draw
  in outside investment and development partners.

Why do we need a Masterplan?

• For too long, the Patricroft Bridge area of
  Salford has been in a slow decline.
• The site is in an excellent location, but hasnt
  been able to capitalise on this.
• So, were going to create a document that sets
  out our plan to realise our vision for
  Patricroft, and how much of an opportunity
  investing in Eccles and Patricroft will be for
  them.

Whos developing the Masterplan?

• Over 200 consultant were on the long list,
  trimmed down to the top 7 consultants in the UK.
• Of these 7, the panel of officers from across the
  city council unanimously voted for URBED to
  develop the project.
• URBED have an excellent reputation for community
  involvement and delivering the proposals they
  design.

How are we developing the Masterplan?

• The idea behind the plan is to maximise this key
  location, not just new housing, but also new jobs
  and opportunities for employment, along with
  maximising access to facilities for the
  community.
• Therefore the core principals of this masterplan
  will be to
• ensure sustainable development,
• promote the reuse and redevelopment of the area,
• ensure that employment and opportunities are kept
  in the area,
• maximise the potential of the sites key location
  and access to facilities.

How can I be part of this?

• Key for us in the development of the Masterplan
  is ensuring that everyone who wants to be is
  involved.
• URBED have developed proposals for a wide and
  varied series of public consultations, to a level
  weve never undertaken before in Salford. Theyve
  met with Council Officers, local Businesses,
  community representatives and stakeholders (such
  as Housing Associations) already.
• The next stage in the consultation will be a
  community consultation event in late August, to
  ask people about their experiences of the area,
  their opinions about what needs to happen in the
  area, and their ideas of what should take place.
• We hope to confirm the exact date tomorrow when
  well start to publicise it, and we hope youll
  be able to attend.

How long will this take?

• The plan is scheduled for delivery before the
  31st of March 2010.
• This means that the consultations will take place
  in later summer through to winter 2009, with the
  final draft of the plans at the end of January
  2010.
• Once the plan is in place, we need to develop
  this into a vehicle to deliver the regeneration,
  to get people interested in investing. We expect
  to complete this by the end of 2010.
• The aim is to have work starting in 2012 on the
  first stages of development.
• We appreciate that for every project, timescales
  can slip and extra steps arise, so its not a
  definitive date, but its certainly what were
  going to aim for.
