Document Setup

• Standard paper sizes
• Letter, legal, tabloid, A4
• Orientation
• Landscape (wide) or portrait (tall)
• Margins
• (pink lines column guides are blue)
• Set up correctly before you begin layout
• All can be selected in the Document Setup window

Margins

• White space on the outside edge that makes
  publication easier to read.
• Margins separating two facing pages are
  considered the gutter.
• Small, saddle-stitch pubs may not need the extra
  white space in the gutter that perfect or wire
  bound pubs do.

Pages

• To add pages, use either Document Setup (in the
  File menu) or Insert Pages (in the Layout menu)
• Insert Pages option lets you put new pages
  before, after, or between the currently viewed
  pages.
• To remove pages, use the Remove Pages option in
  the layout menu

Master Pages

• Click L/R in lower left corner
• Anything added will appear on every page
  (left/right) in document
• Great for awards, items that have to be a
  specific size, column guides, etc.

Columns

• Two, three or five
• Best set on master pages
• Gutters space between columns
• Column size directs
• font selection (narrowsmall)
• Alignment
• Widows Orphans
