Title: Strong Academics And Research Pulled Interest Of Dr Michael Mullan As A Neuroscientist

1
Strong Academics And Research Pulled Interest Of
Dr Michael Mullan As A Neuroscientist
  • From the early days of studies in medicine in
United Kingdom in London, Dr Michael Mullan had
deep set interest in doing something novel for
    mankind.
  • It was this subjective and objective yearning to
come up with useful information about medical
topics for the benefit of mankind, which led Dr
Michael Mullan towards a life of research as a
neuroscientist. Although he practised medicine in
various institutes in London and other parts of
Britain, his quest for research never left his
    being.

Graduating and garnering experience from the days
at Royal Free College of Medicine
  • After graduating in masters in medicine and
surgery, from London University, Dr Mullan went
for studying psychiatry. He then did his MRCP
sych as a member of Royal College of Psychiatry.
Later on, he was also awarded PhD degree in
molecular genetics from London University, which
went on to build his basis for studying the brain
    cells for neurodegenerative disorders.
  • It can also be said as the driving force to delve
deeper into human brain to get to the root cause
of Alzheimer disease, which is becoming one of
the most debilitating diseases in developed
    countries across the world.

Graduating and garnering experience from the days
at Royal Free College of Medicine
  • As the lifespan of people increases, the old age
is afflicted with Alzheimer disease in some
people. It is basically a problem with the
neurons in the brain, getting affected by the
    neurodegeneration process.
  • Dr . Micheal Mullan started his research on this
particular aspect, after having work experience
as a doctor in different capacities in various
hospitals after finishing his medical school from
Royal Free School of Medicine in London. This was
the beginning of a great career and dedicated
    life of research as neuroscientist.

4
Remarkable career in neuropsychiatry after
medicine
  • In the field of medicine, he has had lots of
experience. After basic medical training, he set
his eyes on psychiatric patients with MRCPsych
degree. Prior to that, he had held different
posts of residentship, registrar and house
    surgeon.
  • But, after getting into psychiatry, he started
working in psychiatry hospitals and centres. In
Friern Hospital in London, he worked on
    psycho-geriatrics. In Middlesex Hospital Medical
School, he pursued his PhD degree in molecular
    genetics.

5
Remarkable career in neuropsychiatry after
medicine
  • Various research papers were undertaken by him as
neuroscientist in the same hospital and even
worked as research assistant in the early part of
his career. As a neuroscientist, Dr Michael
Mullan worked in some of the best centres in
    London, gradually holding higher positions.
  • In his later years, after gathering lots of
research experience in psychiatry, he went on to
become the associate professor and co-director in
an institute conducting research on Alzheimer
    disease.

6
Creating a niche mark in Alzheimer research from
Sarasota
  • Towards the last part of the 20th century and
early 21st century, he got a chance to move to
Tampa in Florida, where he joined and established
the Roskamp Institute, entirely dedicated towards
the research for neurodegenerative disorders and
    Alzheimer.
  • In the present day scenario, the work done by Dr
Michael Mullan and his team of accomplished
scientists is worth the efforts, as lots of
papers have been published from the Roskamp
    Institute in Sarasota.

Creating a niche mark in Alzheimer research from
Sarasota
  • Such research works have started revealing many
unknown facts about Alzheimer and ready to be
    analysed for introduction of treatment
    modalities.
  • In the days ahead, there are prospective chances
of this Royal Free College student to reach the
glorious heights as a neuroscientist and come up
with preventive modalities from a very
    debilitating senile problem.
