2TOP 3 STUDY TIPS
Ive always been one to love school and love
learning. Growing up, I was the kid who always
wanted to have the best grades and who all the
other kids would call the overachiever, and
even when they called me that, I wasnt offended,
rather I was proud, and I would usually respond
with a sassy, maybe youre just underachieving.
That usually quieted them. Taking notes was
enjoyable, answering questions was thrilling, and
most of all receiving a good grade was the best
feeling of all. Ive always had this mindset and
over the years Ive learned several tips and
tricks to help me stay positive and to always do
my best. Here are some of my top picks .
3ITS NOT AS EASY AS IT LOOKS
Its not as easy as it looks, I think thats
what I would tell students interested in studying
Arabic abroad. Not to discourage them but to be
real with them. A lot of people come abroad with
this unreal expectation of what it means to study
Arabic. Like me, they are in love, entranced by
the opportunity to be able to understand Gods
word. One should never let that feeling go, but
they should also hold on to the reality of the
struggle. Studying Arabic for the purposes of
Islamic studies is a bit like climbing a
mountain. A month ago, I had the opportunity to
visit the mountain of Moses in which Moses was
gifted the 10 commandments, not far away is the
location in which Christians say he was spoken to
by God.
4FIRST TIME ARABIC STUDENT
I chose to study Arabic for the sole reason of
getting to know my Creator better. Allah revealed
the Quran to mankind in Arabic and filled the
language with beauty and eloquence unmatched by
any other language. It only makes sense that the
beginning of ones studies of the deen would be
in His speech. Not only is Arabic the language of
the Quran, but it is also the language of the
Prophet which only adds to the reason why
learning it is so dear to me. To be able to
understand and to truly ponder and analyze the
teachings of the Quran and Sunnah is the key to
knowing Allah and becoming your best self.
5WHY STUDIO ARABIYA INSTITUTE?
It took years, years in which I became married
and worked in some of the premiere Islamic
organizations. Blessings upon blessings came, but
the fervor and passion to continue my Islamic
studies weighed on me. I sought out all
traditional means in my community, sat with the
scholars of the community, attended every
traveling class available to me and, finally, the
time came that my teachers came to a decision
that it was time for me to move on. It was time
to delve into the key of all Islamic Sciences and
the key to delve into the book of God the Arabic
Language.
