    of us tend to associate it with frustrated
    teenagers struggling with their hormones, and
    fail to recognize the symptoms and triggers, or
    know when to seek help in dealing with a possible
    anger disorder.

  • What can cause anger?
  • To be honest, just about anything can fuel an
    individuals anger, but typical triggers are
    often stress, financial issues, abuse, poor
    social or familial situations and overwhelming
    requirements on your time and energy. As with
    several other disorders, alcoholism included,
    anger issues may occur more frequently in those
    who were brought up by parents with the same
    disorder, and genetics, how your body deals with
    certain chemicals and hormones, can all play a
    significant role in how you deal with anger, too.

  • What are the different types of anger disorders?
  • While over the years, experts have published
    lists about anger disorders that contradict each
    other, there are some forms of anger that are
    widely undisputed, and they include the
    following
  • Chronic anger this type of anger is often
    prolonged and can even impact the immune system,
    while causing other mental disorders, too.
  • Passive anger this can be tricky to identify as
    it doesnt always appear obvious that a person is
    angry.

  • Overwhelmed anger when an individual has
    demands placed upon them that theyre struggling
    to cope with, they may become overwhelmed with
    anger.
  • Self-inflicted anger this is often caused by
    feelings of guilt, and is directed toward the
    individual themselves.
  • Judgmental anger directed towards others, this
    type of anger is often accompanied by feelings of
    resentment.
  • Volatile anger this can involve any number of
    bouts of excessive or violent anger that are
    often spontaneous.

  • What is passive anger?
  • When an individual is experiencing passive anger,
    others around them may not realize that theyre
    even angry, and nor may the individual. Instead,
    their emotions might be displayed as sarcasm,
    apathy or meanness, and they may skip school or
    work, and alienate themselves from friends,
    colleagues and family.
  • Easy to repress, passive anger is not always
    recognizable, even to the passively angry
    individual, but psychotherapy can help them
    identify what emotions are driving their actions,
    and teach them how to deal with it so that it
    becomes manageable.

  • What is aggressive anger?
  • While those who suffer from aggressive anger may
    not always recognize or understand the real cause
    of their feelings, they are usually aware of
    their emotions. Individuals may demonstrate their
    anger physically, by lashing out at people or
    destroying property, and their behaviour is often
    volatile and difficult to control. A trained
    psychotherapist can teach them how to recognize
    the triggers of their aggressive anger, and
    better manage their symptoms.
