Title:

Birds 18 (Birds in Art. Sculpture)

Description:

History is filled with evidence of our avian fascination: cave paintings often feature bird imagery, and the oldest piece of art from China is a tiny passerine carved from a bit of bone 13,000 years ago. Our feathered friends are a part of more modern creations too, from intricate paper art to flight-pattern photography. – PowerPoint PPT presentation

Monument to Nikolay Klyuyev Sculptor Sergei
Alipov The bird Sirin is a symbol of happiness
in ancient Russian mythology, a mythological creat
ure of Russian legends, with the head and chest
of a beautiful woman and the body of a bird. The
legend of Sirin might have been introduced
to Rus' by Persian merchants in the 8th-9th
century.

In 2014, the year of the 130th anniversary since
the birth of N. Klyuev, in the city of Vytegra
was created an arboretum named after Nikolai
Klyuev, in which planted trees, flowers and
shrubs, often referred to by the poet. Creation
of the Park is an interesting experience that
allows to perpetuate the memory of one of the
most talented Russian poets, and an instrument of
shaping the moral attitude towards nature

Novgorod Caged Sirin by Vyacheslav Smirnov
The heavenly creature Sirin is a "hybrid" of a
virgin and a bird, a character in ancient Russian
legends. There is a version that this is the
direct "heiress" of mythical sirens, owners of
marvelous, but destructive voices. However, the
reputation of the Sirin bird is much better it
was believed that she sings songs of happiness
and joyful songs about heavenly bliss. Very often
people lost their minds from her songs. The
second character is an unsightly, slightly funny
Blue Bird, with a human face, symbolizing the
freedom and unpredictability of that very
happiness

Novgorod Caged Sirin by Vyacheslav Smirnov
The main idea of the composition is that a person
who has locked his Sirin in a cage and thereby
protected himself from imaginary happiness is
able to see and experience real happiness. In
ancient Russian legends, Vyacheslav Smirnov
continues, Sirin is usually depicted together
with another bird of paradise - Alkonost, who is
believed to sing songs of sorrow. In Western
European mythology, Sirin is the embodiment of an
unhappy soul.
