Program
  • Ratio of Students to Staff 31 41 in advanced
    program
  • Group Rotations
  • Group Flexibility Available
  • All Activities Individualized to Meet Each
    Learners Needs

3
Program Tenants
  • Intensive teaching (discrete trial training) is
    used throughout the day.
  • Individual Objectives and Targeted Skills are
instructed and integrated during every activity.
  • Data is maintained during each activity.
  • A Key to mastering a skill is being able to
perform that skill given different conditions
    (materials, activities and personnel).
  • Integration is inherent in the program design.
  • Rotations allow learners to demonstrate skills
    for more than one individual.
  • Parent training is an integral part of learner
success and is provided each quarter.

4
Instructional Zones
  • Natural Environment Training Zone
  • Target Zone
  • Skill Center Zone
  • Music and Motion Zone
  • Discovery Zone
  • Social Snack/Lunch Emphasis on Oral Motor Skills

5
Natural Environment Training Zone
  • Follow motivation of each learner utilize
learner selected materials and activities to
    target individualized skills
  • Incorporates all areas of verbal behavior and
    oral motor skills
  • Allows for natural peer interaction
  • Includes additional opportunities for practice in
    cooperation, generalized responding and social
    skills training

6
Target Zone
  • The target zone provides a theme-based
opportunity for learners to practice selected
    skills for intensive teaching
  • Learner specific targets selected from the
Assessment of Basic Language and Learning Skills
    (ABLLS) are directly instructed
  • Target zones typically occur at a table with
instructor selected materials to ensure each
    target is probed and instructed

7
Skill Center Zone
  • The Skill Center Zone is carefully designed such
that each learner practices skills in
    acquisition. Each learner completes separate
    assigned activities.
  • A major component of the Skill Center Zone is the
focus on the learners ability to complete a
targeted task from beginning to end without
    error.

8
Literacy Zone
  • The Literacy Zone is designed so that each
learner is introduced to the different modes of
literacy in a variety of interesting and
    motivating ways.
  • Listening
  • Reading
  • Writing
  • Speaking

9
Music Zone
  • Through the use of music and movement, each
    learners individualized objectives are targeted.
  • ABLLS Areas May Include
  • A- Cooperation
  • B- Visual Performance
  • C- Receptive
  • D- Imitation
  • E- Echoic
  • F- Requesting
  • G- Labeling
  • H- Intraverbals (Conversation)
  • K- Play Skills
  • L- Social Interaction
  • M- Group Instruction
  • N- Generalized Instruction

10
Discovery Zone
  • The Discovery Zone consists of sensorial, small
    motor and cause/effect activities.
  • Each learners individualized program objectives
    are incorporated into the activities.

11
Motion Zone
  • The Motion Zone provides for a structured daily
time during which learners can run, jump, swing
    and play.
  • The focus of the Motion Zone is to integrate
    learner objectives from ABLLS areas
  • K- Play Skills
  • L- Social Interaction
  • M- Group Instruction
  • N- Generalized Instruction

12
Social Snack/Lunch
  • Everyone gets hungry! During social lunch time,
learners replenish their physical selves while
practicing important oral motor and social
    skills.
  • In addition to social skills practice, learners
begin to generalize skills from Target and Skill
Zones as they are discretely integrated by
    instructors.

13
Clinical Classroom Program
  • Student to Staff Ratio 31
  • Follows a school year calendar, 900 200 each
    day
  • Opportunities for instruction during vacation
    time is available
  • Intensive Instruction throughout activities
  • Errorless teaching employed all day, every day
  • Mastery requires a three-step process (Tiers)
  • Each learner receives an Individualized Treatment
Plan (ITP) that guides his program

14
Tier One
  • TIER ONE In tier one, staff supply
    individualized programming in a discrete,
    one-on-one setting. Goals include rapid
acquisition of early learner and pre-requisite
skills and generalization of skills across
    instructors

15
Tier Two
  • TIER TWO Once a target is mastered in Tier One,
it is immediately transferred to Tier Two. The
learner must demonstrate the targeted skill
during teacher-directed activities in a group of
    three learners.

16
Tier Three
  • TIER THREE Once a target is mastered in Tier
Two, it is immediately transferred to Tier Three.
The learner must demonstrate the targeted skill
during learner-directed activities in a group of
    three learners.

17
One-on-One Instruction
  • The clinical classroom model dictates intensive
instruction in all skills and provides for a
systematic method of determining mastery and
transferring each learned skill to natural
    conditions.
  • We realize that some learners may require
    additional one-on-one instruction to maximize
their success and are available to provide this.
