  • Founded in 1956 with 8 American companies
  • Today consists of over 600 member companies with
    almost 2,000 representatives of these companies
    on the AMCHAM mailing list
  • Represent more than US23 billion investment in
    Thailand
  • Approximately 60 are American, with Thai and
    third country companies represented

Historical Perspective
  • Thailand is certainly different that when the
    chamber began
  • Thailand is constantly changing and evolving.
  • 20 years ago, it was classified as a NIAC (Newly
    Industrialized Agricultural County)
  • But, globalization and world trade have demanded
    more transparency and control over the products
    and services that companies in Thailand provide.

Change demanded growth
  • As Thailand grew, so did the need for global
    outreach.
  • The requirement to present the American-Thai
    relationship to the world fell to the Chamber
  • As political and economic systems changed, so did
    the need to identify a constant international
    standards

    Thailand
